Audi's momentum in the Chinese market is unquestionable. 50K units in a single month is a huge achievement and 500K units in a single country in a single year is even bigger.

For comparison, Mercedes-Benz sold 312,534 vehicles in the U.S. for all of 2013, its largest market by sales. Audi will sell 60% MORE cars in its largest market of China than Mercedes-Benz will sell in the United States.

Heck Audi's sales for just the first-half of 2014 is almost as much as Mercedes-Benz sold in the U.S. in 2013 as a whole.

Why don't you talk about Audi's sales in the U.S. being half of what Mercedes sells in the U.S? You act like China is the only market in the world.

@Benzes1 Audi has a real problem with the A4 and A6 being such dismal sellers relative to BMW/Mercedes equivalents.

Long-term it's fine. Audi is rapidly expanding its model portfolio and manufacturing capabilities globally. Audi's U.S. sales are booming. There are new manufacturing plants under construction in Mexico and Brazil. Audi will not be solely reliant on China. In China, Audi enjoys top marks for customer satisfaction and is a brand that is continuing to move from strength to strength.

Audi is taking a global approach to its manufacturing and sales efforts and the results are clearly successful.

@GermanNut as a % increase Audi's sales are "booming" but look at model to model comparison of the A4/6/8 against the competition and they aren't even in the hunt.

Yes, MattDarringer, that is true, but what it does it tell you about the importance of the Chinese market if Audi can sell over 500K cars this year in China and just half of what BMW sells in the U.S. this year and still threaten BMW's global sales lead?

That's right, China is a hugely important market and the key to the future.

Fleet sales KILL a brand...
How much does VWAG pay you to cheerlead for them?
We know that JDMUSuscle must get paid a fortune for his cheerleading.
If it's lucrative, I'll pretend that VW is infallible and change my name to VWorgasmatron and you can continue with Audi. Deal?

Fleet sales KILL a brand? Tell that to all the Chinese government officials that parade around town in blacked-out Audi A6s and A8s. In China the A8 is a sign of power, luxury and prestige and has huge benefits for the lower Audi models.
