U.S. launch for new A8* generation

With year-on-year sales growth of 11.4 percent, AUDI AG has achieved the best first half year in company history. The brand with the four rings handed over around 869,350 cars to customers in the first six months. In June alone, the company delivered around 155,450 cars worldwide, exceeding the figure in the same period last year by 10.8 percent. The premium brand grew particularly strongly in North America, increasing sales by 21.2 percent year-on-year.

“In the first half of this year we have already delivered more cars than in the whole of 2005. The successful A3 family and the full-size segment in particular helped accelerate our global growth in the first six months,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. “We’re also optimistic for the upcoming months and will carry forward the momentum from the first half of the year.”
Sales of the new A3 family increased by 49.4 percent to around 144,750 units since January. Deliveries of the Audi Q3* (+37.0%), Q5* (+5.5%) and Q7* (+20.8%) SUV models also rose substantially over this period. Sales in the full-size segment with the A6*, A7*, Q7 and A8 models also performed equally positively, with combined sales increasing by 10.1 percent to 219,450 units. The brand’s top model, the Audi A8, grew in June alone by 23.7 percent to 4,023 units.

VWOA has a problem. Audi is up and VW is down.

Volkswagen hardly has a problem with Porsche and Audi - the group's two largest profit contributors - selling a record number of cars globally.

But VW is crashing and burning in a lucrative market with substandard, low-quality, low-reliability products.

BMW should watch out. Audi's growth has been relentless in the U.S. and China. Once the A3 Cabriolet, A3 TDI, S3 Sedan and Q3 SUV arrive in the U.S. in the next 3 months, Audi's U.S. sales numbers will show even stronger growth.

It will be really exciting to watch if Audi can overtake BMW this year in global sales.

The A3 is hot but the A4 and A6 are sales duds. Both models need a massive rethink.

yeah, and just wait until Audi unleashes those A1's, A2's, Q1's, Q2's, etc. Once they complete their downmarket descent and add all those $20-30k "luxury" sales, they'll REALLY be able to stick it to BMW and Mercedes. Then they can hang up their imaginary trophy as kings of the "luxury" sales for sure.

The A4 will get a revamp, MattDarringer. In fact, there will be an all-new A4 in 2015. That car will move further upmarket and create price space between itself and the A3 Sedan. Mercedes-Benz is doing exactly that with the new C-class due out later this year to create space between the CLA.

If the A4 and the A6 don't go RWD--and they won't--they will remain dynamically inferior to their BMW/Mercedes counterparts on the track. The AWD S4 is a numb drive around the track compared to the M3. The new A4 will look like the old one.

More like a totally new exterior and interior design that is aggressive and differentiated with advanced technology and safety features!

With all these alleged Audi sales, I still rarely see an Audi on the road.
