Can YOU Name FIVE Cars That SHOULD HAVE Been Aborted?

My view: Abort the incited hatefulness and negativity with the "what car do you hate most" and "who drives the douchiest car" and the like. And if you have some spare time, do some research and make some positive contributions to AutoSpies.

I agree - the the problem with picking such a list - it is based on what an individual things a car should be - and that changes from person to person. There was a time in everyone's life when a car - any car - was WHEELS - and meant freedom to travel around - and we really didn't care whether our car had the cache' of a foreign sports car. And for the overwhleming majority of people - that is what a car still is in their life - transportation. And a car that did not get favorable reviews by the maniac sports car nuts - was likely to be more affordable for our first car than others.

Bashing auto makers and putting emphasis on Tenth's of a second in acceleration had resulted in cars with features that most people never know are there - much less use - and have made cars a lot more expensive. The difference between cars in a class today is largely subjective - yet a car snob will still pick out the "clinkers". And those cars are probably a lot better than virtually any car from 30 years ago.

The whole point is to see everyone's thoughts and individual taste.

I believe the whole point is to be click-bait, but that's just my opinion.

Is it any surprise that people's tastes are diverse, or that some people are passionate about what they believe? Is that news? No, but it is entertainment, in a Jerry Springer kind of way. Put on a show featuring "Transexual mothers of lesbian vampires" and you'll surely get an audience. Get them to fight, and you'll attract more of the same. Bad news travels faster and farther than good.

Each contributor makes a statement about the audience they seek. Some are like garbage trucks, spewing their "offerings" onto anyone nearby. Others make more positive contributions, but that takes more effort, more brain cycles, and a different mind-set. It's all a personal decision about who we choose to be.

To each their own, but I love my 2.5. :)

Agree with many of the selections above, but looks like they fall into 2 categories (with some overlap)-- Bad or notorious cars (Pacer and pretty much everything made by AMC, Chrysler K-cars, Cimarron) and cars that are just plain ugly, but might be quite functional and drive OK as long as you don't have to be on the outside looking in (Crosstour, ZDX, BMW 5GT, Juke). I would assign the Aztek to both categories. No idea why LaF makes MattDarringer's list

Anything 'retro' from American manufactures that just makes them look desperate since they cannot come up with anything new and exciting:

To answer your question, there is a difference in evolution of a classic design and an act of desperation trying to regain some previously attained glory when a company has veered clumsily off the path.

And Porsche hasn't veered clumsily off the path with 2 SUV--another on the way--a sedan--and another on the way?

Any boring or ugly Lexus the last 5 years up to the 2015 Lexus NX or anything with that horrible front end
