It's Coming! What Does Nissan's All-New Pick-Up NEED In Order To Take A Bite Out Of The F-150, RAM And Silverado's Pie?
When it comes to the pick-up truck wars, the two that are constantly doing battle are the Ford F-150 and the Chevrolet Silverado — RAM is picking up steam, fast. Although if you compared the end of the year sales figures between the two top sellers, the Blue Oval had a lead of nearly 300,000 units.

Obviously, these are HUGE numbers when it comes to all-new vehicle sales. And if there's one area that Nissan stands to grow significantly would be in sales of its very own full-size pick-up truck. To put things in perspective, the Nissan Titan sold less than 16,000 units in 2013.

2015 Nissan Full Product Line Updates

Honda sold MORE Ridgeline pick-ups than Nissan sold Titans. That's when you KNOW you have a problem!

Now, I am not thinking that Nissan needs to reinvent the pick-up truck game. Frankly, I don't think that can be done or should be done from a strategy perspective. Even if the company spent a tremendous amount of bucks in research and development and made a gamechanger, it wouldn't gain market acceptance. BUT, what it NEEDS to do for the next-gen product is make something that will take a bite out of the F-150 and Silverado's market share.

As I am the FIRST to admit I am NOT a pick-up guy or expert, I turn to you: WHAT does Nissan have to do with its next-gen Titan replacement to gain some traction in the full-size pick-up truck market?

Why does Nissan bother?

The bigger question. Who actually buys these?

Nissan trucks aren't bad are they? I had an XTerra and it was a great car. I was, if anything, upset that there's no plans to have a next-gen XTerra. But maybe with a brand-new Titan they'll reconsider and update the Frontier and XTerra. Maybe not, though.

The Titan had/has multiple durability issues. It truly is a terrible product.

Historically, Nissan SUVs have been good competitors, Current Pathfinder shows how they have lost the way.

Their pickups are another story. A sad one.

All trucks have had manufacturing issues.

If you had actually driven one, you would know that, of the four, the Titan had amazing steering, a well balanced chassis and nice firm ride.

Yes, Nissan cheaped out on the first production run with brakes from an Altima, but it is one of the best full-size trucks on the market.
