Cadillac Scoops Up Former Head Of Audi And Infiniti - Is There FINALLY Hope For The Luxury Automaker?
General Motors is hiring Johan de Nysschen, the former U.S. Audi boss who is leaving Nissan’s Infiniti, to lead global Cadillac sales, GM said today.

De Nysschen, 54, will fill the post vacated Thursday by Bob Ferguson, who’s returning to his previous position as the automaker’s top government lobbyist, effective immediately.

He is joining GM as an executive vice president and president of Cadillac, effective Aug. 1, reporting to GM President Dan Ammann.

that could be interesting.

It was smart for Cadillac to hire its global chief from the outside -- it's just that De Nysschen was the wrong hire.

There are several executives with true Vision that would have been better choices.

Who would be your top 5?

I so agree. He botched Infiniti.

Can't wait for the rebadging to occur - C4, C6, C8. It has worked wonders in driving sales for Infiniti.

I so agree. All they need now is to rehire Max Wolff to make the implosion of Cadillac complete. Cadillac hasn't been making dumb moves, so why do they need a new person to run the show? If anything Cadillac has been woefully underfunded to flesh out its product portfolio.

Where is their CLS competitor?

All Cadillac needs is funding to get the right product into dealers. I shudder to think what is about to happen. There is a REASON he is no longer with Audi and Infiniti.

So, isn't this the guy that was supposed to lead the revolution at Infiniti, and the only thing he did was create a new naming structure?

I work for a company that Johan used to run. He likes things done right so he will spend money to get things done right. Meaning he supports heavy product development budgets. I am sure he went to Infinity either with the hope that he could get money to differentiate Infiniti from Nissan or he was promised the money he needed. Unfortunately the Japanese brands do it on the cheap... Look at Acura, Infiniti and to a lesser degree but still guilty of it, Lexus. All relegated to 2nd tier because they won't spend what is needed. At least GM seems to have done the right thing and given Cadillac a blank check for product.

Cadillac is a cheap "luxury" wannabe brand as well.

You drive a Cadillac, and basically no one recognizes you.

There is a reason why so many people want German cars.

By driving a German car, you drive the car of the most powerful developed country in the entire planet.

By driving an American car, you drive a Desperate Housewife car that is from the nation with hundreds of bankrupting cities + super high unemployment rate, etc.

I mean, honestly, who drives a Caddy? Only some right wing Americans.

Unless he has the autonomy to run Cadillac as a separate manufacturer inside of GM, he will still be saddled by GM's slow-moving and cost over quality culture.

Like an oil tanker at sea, it's going to take a while to turn around that boat!

Remember that Cadillac outsells Audi by 20%. Yet Audi is "on fire" and Cadillac is "sinking" according to this site.

Cadillac has more fleet sales than Audi, in addition to making a vehicle, Escalade, that has become the defacto standard for limo services.

Take those two things away, and there goes that 20%, and probably more.

@MorePower your logic evades reason. So shall we remove all the fleet sales Audi does in Europe when counting their numbers? You can't have it both ways. Numbers are numbers.
