Does The All-New Porsche Cayman GTS REALLY Have The World's BEST Exhaust? Can YOU Name ONE Better?
Fairly recently Evo Magazine had the chance to video the all-new Porsche Cayman GTS in Germany's Black Forest. Not a bad day, if I do say so myself!

But as you'll see Evo's video title, they ask if the Cayman GTS has the world's BEST exhaust. Now, I reckon it does have a tasty little note on it but the world's BEST? That's a tough claim to back up. And now I am calling it out.

So, what say YOU, Spies? Can you name ONE exhaust note BETTER than the all-new Porsche Cayman GTS?

Start 'em up!

Henry Catchpole analyses the new Porsche Cayman GTS -- the most potent Cayman yet -- and enthuses about the nape-prickling noise it makes.

sounds great, but cant say its the worlds best, LFA is way better than this, so is ferrari and a whole bunch of others. maybe in this price range its up there, but def not the best.

All of the above are probably dead on in terms of absolute. However, to be fair, OOR, he does state "for the money".

The only comparable above would he the F-Type in S form.

I have not driven the GTS but I tried a 2014 Cayman S w/ sport exhaust on the track recently and it sounds much better than the standard set-up. Assuming that the GTS is at least as good, it is indeed hard to beat for the price.

I haven't driven an F-Type so it may very well be better sounding but probably not a better car based on reviews.

Touché.

The Sport Exhaust on any Porsche works wonders.

The F-Type V6 sounds pretty good but to my ears it's not as good as the Cayman S when equipped with the Sport Exhaust.

The F-Type V8, on the other hand is pretty tough to beat.

It's good for a modern Porsche. However I still think the original air cooled 911's sound better. Further my old Alfa Romeo GTV6 probably had the best sound of any reasonably priced sport coupe. The Cayman has a very good noise for a modern sports car. But I don't think it is significantly better than Jaguars F Type V6. It is better sound then BMW's new M3. There are other modern cars today with V8's and V12's that still sound better. Aston Martin Vantage, Ferrari F12, Lamborghini Huracan, Aston Martin DBS and Vanquish, maybe even Jaguar's F Type V8. I don't think that American V8's sound quite as good but are close. In summary, it definitely has a good noise but it is not the best. A GT3 is even better.

I am going to throw in here... My problem with this car's sound and other like it like the BMW M4 is when the engine is not under load. Sure it has a beautiful sound under load but then you take the your foot off the pedal it gets ugly. You get this crackling, popping, out of synch sounding motor as it winds down; this to me sounds like a sick engine, like the timing is off or misfiring. I hate this sound because it sounds cheap and broken. Considering that when the engine is running half of the total time in operation with less load, I would not want this sound coming out of my car...
