CONFIRMED: Jaguar Announces September Debut For Its 3-Series Fighter, The XE, AND MORE Details Revealed
If what we're hearing about the all-new Jaguar XE is true, it seems that the leaping cat may be preparing something awfully tasty.

First off, it's been confirmed that the all-new "baby" Jag will be revealed on September 8 in London. We're not sure exactly what kind of affair it will be, but if Jaguar Land Rover has taught us anything in recent years, it will be glamorous and feature at least one celebrity.

Second, the technical details we're hearing are very, very intriguing. That's because it's being said that JLR is using everything it has learned in its latest products. The XE's chassis will be lightweight, its suspension is F-Type inspired and set up with some seriously sporting intentions.

The first test Jaguar has to pass is if its all-new vehicle will get attention from a styling perspective. If it's just a scaled down XF, the XE may have trouble selling. It needs to evoke some emotion and leave buyers wanting to be seen in it.

The second test will be if Jaguar's XE can outperform cars like the BMW 3-Series. As the 3'er is the benchmark, it needs to be competitive to that car. As we've noted before with the BMW, it's gotten softer over the years. This means there's a chance the Jag can overtake BMW.

Of course this assumes Jaguar brings everything together and has solid execution. We're hoping they FINALLY change out the laggy infotainment software, at minimum.

Jaguar has confirmed its all-new XE saloon will be revealed in London on 8 September.

The Gaydon manufacturer has also confirmed some of the first technical details of the crucial BMW 3-series rival, which Jaguar says “combines thrilling performance, agile handling and precise, responsive steering, with outstanding levels of refinement”.

The XE will be equipped with F-type-inspired double wishbone front suspension made from aluminium, which Jaguar claims results in stiffness levels equivalent to the larger XFR sports saloon...

The XE needs to be priced BELOW the 3 Series / C Class when comparably equipped to BUY SALES. Jaguar's sales are dismal in the USA partly due to product deficits but also because they are too expensive for people to gamble on the perception that Jaguars are reliability nightmares. They aren't Toyota reliable but better than they used to be from what I've been told by previous owners.

I completely agree. The only reason why I've stayed away from them is their reliability issue. And I know first hand from a good friend and several others that they will not buy Jaguar again for that particular reason.

Jaguar is like Land Rover in reliability: a Nightmare.

A customer at the dealer took an XFR out for a test drive and it died in traffic and had to towed back to the dealer.

As a previous Jag dealer representative, I have to admit that their reliablitity has improved a lot.-
Their basic problem now is price wise. Their price strategy is far from good, and they have not been able to understand that.-

Indeed.

Reliability has improved but it's still lacking. I recall vividly an older friend of mine getting so angry at his 2 year old XJ (from the Forduar days) for dropping dead for the NINTH time that he called a dealer and commanded an S Class be delivered and the offending Jag be taken away.

Prices are moronic. The F Type routinely tops $100K when--for volume sales goals--it needed to be a $50K vehicle.

Jaguar needs to drop prices to buy market share and it needs a Hyundai warranty. The Jaguar dealer we sold our interest in was losing money because they were covering "warranty" repairs that Jaguar would not reimburse because (1) they were trying to keep the dealer open and (2) they have a reputation for customer satisfaction as an automotive group.
