Warren Buffett buys a new Caddy

Investor Warren Buffett recently treated himself to a brand new Cadillac and was so impressed with the dealership he sent a letter of praise to General Motors chief executive Mary Barra.

GM published the letter and the saleswoman's account of the transaction on the automaker's Fastlane Blog on Tuesday.

Instead of shopping for the car himself, Buffett had his daughter, Susie Buffett, go to Huber Cadillac in Omaha, Neb. to look at cars. Susie told saleswoman Madison Willers that she was shopping for her father but didn't say who he was. Instead, she merely described the personality and habits of her anonymous father; according to Buffett's letter.

Initially, Susie asked about a Cadillac CTS which Buffett's car guy friend; had recommended. (That car guy; was GM (GM) CEO Mary Barra, but Susie didn't reveal that piece of information either.)
But, based on Susie's description of her father, Willers recommended the roomier, softer-riding Cadillac XTS, instead.

Madison could not have been more helpful, Buffett wrote in his letter to Barra.

Initially, Willers thought that Susie Buffett was just a mystery shopper; GM had sent to the dealership to test her product knowledge. It was only a few days later when Susie Buffett returned to actually purchase the car that Willers learned that it was really being bought by Warren Buffett.

Willers and Buffett had actually met years before when Willers had been a waitress at an area restaurant, Willers wrote in a different Fastlane blog post about the experience. Mr. Buffett requested that I personally deliver his XTS so that he could say hello after all the time that had passed; Willers wrote.

She drove the car to Buffett's office at Berkshire Hathaway (BRKA) and also brought him a Cadillac hat to go with the new car.

He seemed just as excited about the hat as he was about the car; she wrote.

This wasn't Buffett's first Cadillac. To buy the new XTS, he traded in a 2006 Cadillac DTS. A spokeswoman for Warren Buffett confirmed the information in the story and the letter posted on GM's blog.

Now that's funny. I already responded to your last comment which is laughable to say the least, and I bet you think every rich person in the world drives a Ford pick up truck (And I bet you think the "world" is "America" lol!!)

You really are a product of failed American education system. lol!

And the most laughable part, no one is talking about me, but here you are, you keep calling me out as if you are a stalker. I already know you have got no friends, either. So you should be thankful that I am at least talking to you. ok, son?

By the way, kid, why do you have that Range Rover icon there? It's very unpatriotic of you to worship a British brand there, son.

And I do not bash "Cadillac" but the way they promote themselves. There is a difference but I don't think a highschool drop out like you would
understand. Very unfortunate, I know.

If I hated Caddy, I would never think of owning an Escalade ever in my life, correct?

no, you still miss the stat. If I've said it once, I've said it 100 times. Let's do it one more time for old times sake. Here it goes...

More millionaires own f-150's than any other car.

You seem to think that I'm saying millionaires only owning one car and for that... I pity your inability to think outside the box. J-lo and Diddy drive a Bentley. Wow.. they are public image conscious. You continue to shove celeb car blogs that covers a very small FRACTION of a percentage of the population. There are more rich people than celebs. Sorry... If you want to talk in terms of global celebs, athletes, politicians... you might have a point. However... Here in the dumb ole USA.. the numbers make your points and celebs look ridiculous. You should really do more research on who holds the buying power in the U.S. Might open your eyes a little.

I'm not going to try and change your mind. The numbers are there and the sales figures (posted on this site every month) are there. It doesn't take a master of the public education system to figure it out. Are the cars you hold so dear (and don't own) beautiful works of art? Yes. I love them too and appreciate them but... will never buy one. Even as my income rises, myself and probably a lot of other educated professionals, will choose to make a wise purchase over a luxury item. It's just how it works man. Sorry... enjoy your rolls or maybach. I'll enjoy my interest and money in the bank. As for friends... i don't come here looking for friends. I just have to laugh at your posts. They are about as mature as a high school student and obtuse as a Justin Bieber wanna be. You should probably pay attention to how others respond to you before you start talking about how well I'm accepted in this forum. I've seen very little positive replies to your ramblings.

also... these are your comments... not exactly something I would say if i was looking at an Escalade. You continue to contradict yourself. Just go buy what you want and STFU. We've seen your rants and we know you hate US automakers. Point made.

http://www.autospies.com/news/Cadillac-Scoops-Up-Former-Head-Of-Audi-And-Infiniti-Is-There-FINALLY-Hope-For-The-Luxury-Automaker-82016/

Cadillac is a cheap "luxury" wannabe brand as well.

You drive a Cadillac, and basically no one recognizes you.

There is a reason why so many people want German cars.

By driving a German car, you drive the car of the most powerful developed country in the entire planet.

By driving an American car, you drive a Desperate Housewife car that is from the nation with hundreds of bankrupting cities + super high unemployment rate, etc.

I mean, honestly, who drives a Caddy? Only some right wing Americans.

Oh, I thought all the name calling and stuff was the sigh of being a "loser"? But now I see you resort to that, which really says a lot about yourself now lol!!

And also, it's pretty laughable how you actually "still" talk about the sales number. Do you really think Bentley or Rolls mass produce the vehicles like Ford does? Even if Ferrari or Bentley sold all of their cars, that still can not match the sales number of F150 and the others, since Ford produces far more.

And when was I talking about "this", you moron? Oh wait, you are a highschool drop out who can only afford some used Ford Expedition. What a sad child ;)

And I don't dream to own "anything", unlike you having a Range Rover icon and wishing to one day own the British icon, son ;)

And yes, I did say it, and I also said that "I bash the American automakers not because I hate them, but to see them become great again"

What did Roosevelt say about patriotism once?

Oh wait, you are too dumb to even know it. After all, you are basically a product of "FAILED" American education system. I really feel sorry for you, kiddie. I really do :(

I bet you think just repeating "Ohhh America is so great! The good ol' USA is the best country in the world, GM, Ford and Chrysler make the best cars evaaaa" would mean "good", and pointing out the flaws would mean the sign of hatred.

And this is why philosophically-illiterate people like you are ruining America. Oh wait, you wouldn't know, since you are just a minimum wage earner with no education background lol!!

And once again, I did talk about "GLOBAL", and Celebrity cars blog and the other website I told you about do not just cover the U.S.

Now, did you get it? GLOBAL, means NOT just the United States.

"Ohhh here in America, all the millionaires wish they had a Ford pick up truck!!"

You should keep saying that, with your Range Rover icon on your profile there. I can only feel your jealousy towards European brands even more lol!!!

I guess when you put words in people's mouths, it's easy to make a point. You need a mental evaluation.

as for the land rover pic... i've always liked them. had a discovery a while back but it wasn't the most reliable vehicle. when it worked, it was great in the snow. I can appreciate it for what it is. I don't sit around bashing them endlessly or any automaker for that matter.

Oh wow. I need a mental evaluation. That was ALL you could come up with? lol!!

The problem is that you have some reading problems, and that is not my problem. It's simply a problem with your brain.

And also, I really like how you bash the celebrities just because they drive super lux European cars. I mean, really? Just how much lower can you go there? I already get the fact that you are jealous of the European brands and all, but that does not give you the right to just bash them all for driving super expensive European cars that you can never dream to own.

I mean, I feel your inferiority complex, and your jealousy towards Europe, but really, just stop. It just makes me sad to see you like this :'(

Warren Buffett is really a humble man. One of people that I highly respect.

He seems to drive only American or Japanese cars in general, when he has no problem going for any kind of "very elitist" cars from Europe.

I can personally attest that he did drive the DTS before, so the change to the XTS makes complete sense.
