SPIED: FIRST INTERIOR Shots Of The All-New Land Rover Discovery Sport — Notice Something MISSING?
Back at this year's New York Auto Show there was one concept that stood out to us. Granted, it was a pretty weak show.

That would be the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

Looking way more fluid than Discovery models of the past — they're really just boxes with windows — and featuring an interior that seemed to be inspired by the Tesla Model S' center stack, we were impressed. Now that the production model is undergoing testing and development, we were hoping the first interior shots would depict a center stack as seen in the concept.

Well, time to get disappointed! That's because it won't make it. Sorry, folks! Though the full center stack screen has been axed, if you take a look at the photos, you'll note that there is a large screen sitting atop the center stack. Unlike what we've seen from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, this screen looks integrated into the dash instead of the iPad look.

Let us know if you're disappointed or if you're digging where this is headed, below!

I love the direction automobile companies are heading. In a few years the entire interior of cars will be wrapped in LCD screens. Seats made from butt hugging lcds and entire front exterior is one giant grill.

This post is just total link bait, right? Land Rover was very clear that the Discovery Vision Concept (DVC) was going to show us where things were going. The DVC was for the future of the Discovery family. It was not the concept for the later announced Discovery Sport. The Discovery Sport replaces the Freelander/LR2. The Concept was a full-sized SUV more along the lines of the next proper Discovery/LR4.

Sure it's disappointing the tech they showed in the DVC didn't immediately translate down to the Discovery Sport but it's just irresponsible link-baiting to suggest the DVC was the analog design for the Discovery Sport. That's just wrong, disappointing and misinformed.

Sorry, types that quickly - should have been click baiting - want to be sure I get my insults in correctly.

Hey chief, it's not as you say. Considering Tesla and Volvo have integrated these sort of center stack AND the Discovery Sport is a future product, we're calling it as we see it.

Take off the rose-colored lenses. JLR had a chance to deliver and it didn't. Don't excuse it.

Actually there green-colored glasses, ha.

Yes, JLR is so behind the times with there systems and InControl is just a stop-gap for what's coming next. My complaint with the article really just came down to the DVC tech not showing up in the Discovery Sport. If this same article has been focused on the next proper Discovery I wouldn't have written the comment. And yes I'm giving them a pass - it's a Freelander, you've seen what these have been since they first arrived. I just didn't/don't have high hopes for it to be a high-tech wonder and get the first get of the JLR NGI.

And actually I give up, I cannot write up one of these comments without glaring typos. I'm starting to get embarrassed.

Being the age I am (almost 28) I should love screens everywhere and fussy new ways of turning on the radio and the air conditioning, but I don't. I would prefer the utter simplicity of knobs and buttons. As for GPS, I've always been of the mind that if a person doesn't know where he's going, he's got no business getting in the car. This LR dash is a huge step away from the stupidity of the concept. I like what little I see.
