UK Version Of Audi A3 e-tron To Start At Only $59,000 - Deliveries Start In January
This is the Audi A3 e-tron, a plug in hybrid from the four-ring brand that's fast and efficient. It's going on sale in Britain soon, starting from £34,950 on the road. That's before you take into account the UK government grant, which could potentially make it as cheap as any other premium hatchback.

There are other plug-in hybrids on the market, of course, but they either don't have the premium features of the A3 or are much more expensive to buy, like in the case of the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.

DUMB strategy. Price it like a regular A3 and rake in the sales that Audi so desperately need in the USA.

Why sell something at a loss when you can sell it elsewhere at a profit? Based on UK pricing the e-tron is priced a couple of grand higher than the S3 there. So likely that's what the US pricing will be give a take a few thousands.

Nice headline. ONLY $59k? Really? What a super deal. Here, I can use "only" too, as in "only GermanNut009 would use 'only' when describing an A3 that starts at $59k."

Yet the same people that say the BMW i3 is way to much money.

A plug in hybrid Audi A3 is a brilliant move but NOT for twice the price of a base A3. I'd be ok with at most $5K more. If this reflects American pricing, the etron will not sell.

How many times do you all have to be reminded that you can't make any sort of comparison between US prices and other countries? They have all sorts of taxes, as well as the models are usually equipped differently. Apples and oranges.

I'm not going to take the time to compare the different models on the UK web site, but I have no doubt an E-Tron equipped about the same as a standard A3 is likely no more the 4k pounds or so higher. Factor in other credits offered (as we have here) and the price is even closer.
