BMW X2 on the Way! Model Proliferation Strategy Continues Unabated!
BMW knows how to fill a niche, with ?the original X6 tapping into a market many people hadn’t imagined existed in the first place. The new X4 proves the coupe-crossover works on a smaller scale, and BMW is planning to release a new sporty coupe SUV based on the next-generation X1.

It’ll be called the BMW X2 and is likely to be offered as a three or five-door – like the 1 Series. As with all future small BMWs, the X2 will sit on the UKL1 platform used by the new MINI and 2 Series Active Tourer, and set to underpin the next X1 and 1 Series. As a result, the car will be available with front or four-wheel-drive – current sDrive X1s are rear-driven.

The styling has all the hallmarks ?of BMW’s ‘Sport Activity Coupe’ cars, including the sloping roofline and pumped-up wheelarches. But as part ?of a new generation of BMWs, it’ll get elements of the latest design language. We’ve seen this on cars like the Vision Luxury Concept, and it’ll be rolled out ?to production cars starting with the new 7 Series later this year. As our exclusive image shows, it’s focused round narrow, angular headlights, sharp creases and an enlarged double kidney grille.

This design (although I know it isn't from BMW) is god awful. BMW is continuing to lose its way as it moves further along with its niche-filling model proliferation strategy.

The cannibalization between BMW's many models is simply inevitable and presents an opportunity for Audi and Mercedes-Benz to really put the heat on BMW in terms of sales and quality of products in the next 3-5 years.

Yes, Audi and Mercedes-Benz are doing the same thing, but their execution of the strategy will be much better. BMW's designs are ugly as sin, the marketing team fails to clearly explain the difference between the various models, and the niches BMW is trying to fill are infinitely small.

Audi's new design strategy is focused on aggressive and differentiated exterior design paired with different interiors that blend luxury and technology.

"Yes, Audi and Benz are doing the same thing"

The end. You should have just stopped right there, NutFace, because everything you say after that is pure BS drivel you read off the daily troll script provided to you every morning by your bosses at Audi HQ. But we'll see just how good those marketing guys at Audi are. I am sure they'll do just a bang up job of "clearly explaining the differences" between the Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, Q6, Q7, Q8, and Q9.

I dig it except behind the front doors the design starts to lose me... I thinking this will be a fun one to drive especially with 240hp and up and AWD
