Honda Scratches Head With A 6% DECREASE In July Sales - Acura Flails With A 20.8% Plummet For Month
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today reported July 2014 Honda and Acura vehicle sales of 135,908 units. The Honda division posted sales of 123,428 units in July while Acura sold 12,480 units in the same period. Year-to-date American Honda sales reached 875,344 units.

Honda

In a month of bests, Accord, the brand's top-selling model, finished its best July in five years, CR-V posted its best July sales ever and the all-new Fit had its best month of the year so far.

  • Accord had its seventh straight month above 30,000 sales with 35,073 July sales, up 11.3 percent.
  • CR-V, the nation's best-selling utility vehicle through June, broke a July record for the second consecutive year, bringing its year-to-date sales to 183,214, up 5.9 percent.
  • With dealer supplies continuing to build, the all-new 2015 Fit posted its strongest monthly sales so far this year with 5,115 units, up 1.3 percent vs. July 2013 and up 38.3 percent over June 2014 sales.

"The CR-V continues to cement its place as America's favorite and best-selling SUV with yet another record month of sales," said Jeff Conrad, Honda division senior vice president and general manager. "Combined with Accord, which is on its way to become the most popular car in the U.S. for a second straight year, Honda once again has the vehicles of choice in two of the biggest market classes."

Acura

Overall Acura sales reflect a virtual sell out of prior TL and TSX models as the company prepared for launch of the 2015 TLX line of luxury performance sedans, which is now underway nationwide. MDX, America's all-time best-selling 3-row luxury SUV, was the brand's best-selling model, besting a year-old July record.

  • All-new 2015 TLX is arriving at dealers now.
  • MDX July sales rose 13.2 percent on sales of 6,283 units, setting a new July record and combined with RDX, set a new July record for light trucks.

"Our July sales were definitely impacted by a lack of sedan availability as we sold out of TSX and TL," said Mike Accavitti, Acura division senior vice president and general manager. "We're confident that the all-new TLX luxury performance sedan, arriving at dealers now, will quickly remedy the situation and drive Acura sales growth through the second half of the year."

Honda is taking way too long to get a new Pilot out and the dying interest in minivans seems apparent.

August and September sales of TLX should control some of the bleeding for Acura.

I wonder if people have caught on that the recently "all new" Civic is just the previous "all new" Civic with minor changes and that Civic was merely the previous "all new" Civic mildly warmed over.

Honda are finally succumbs to the onslaught from S. Korea. Either up their 'game' or they will become another Mitsubishi class Japanese maker.

Agreed and what Mulally did at Ford has made Ford rather formidable. I'd take a Fiesta over a Fit, a Focus over a Civic, and a Fusion over the Accord--which is the ONLY nicely done Honda.

Toyota getting cozy with BMW strengthens BOTH companies vis a vis their competitors.

LOL. Are you looking at the same numbers that I am? The Odyssey and Pilot are the main reasons Honda is down. Accord up. Civic up YTD. CR-V up.

I swear some of you people will bite at anything to see Honda go down.

Both Honda and Acura now have a pattern of decreasing sales and decreasingly uninteresting cars. Pity, Honda doesn't recognize their continuing design and marketing mistakes.

Here's another one. "Pattern"? Really? OR, maybe because production of the TL and TSX ceased months ago, in anticipation of a late spring launch of the TLX, that's a major reason we see decreased sales.

And I'll add that the MDX continues to see increased sales and the RDX was the top-selling car in its segment this month..and last year.

As far as Honda, I already stated the obvious, so I won't repeat it.

Understand your facts before you post this kind of stuff. And btw, "decreasingly uninteresting" is incorrect based on what I know you are trying to say.
