Toyota Assaults July With A 6.4% Increase In Sales - Lexus Sales Leap 14.1% For Month
Toyota, Scion and Lexus today reported total July 2014 sales results of 215,802 units, an increase of 7.3 percent from July 2013 on a daily selling rate (DSR). On a raw-volume basis, unadjusted for 26 selling days in July 2014 versus 25 selling days in July 2013, sales increased 11.6 percent over the year-ago month.

Toyota division posted July 2014 sales of 188,469 units, up 6.4 percent year-over-year on a DSR basis. Volume-wise, Toyota division sales increased 10.6 percent over July 2013.

"Rising consumer confidence, coupled with momentum in the marketplace, boosted auto sales in July," said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. "Led by an all-time record month for RAV4 and double-digit gains for both Camry and Corolla, Toyota was the number one retail brand."

"Lexus dealers turned in their best July results ever thanks to some hot products, a nationwide marketing program and the strength of the overall luxury market," said Jeff Bracken, Lexus group vice president and general manager. "Six of the eight Lexus models posted gains for the month."

Like the 3/4 for BMW, the ES and RX are simply unstoppable for Lexus, and least representative of the "sporty" direction Lexus is trying to take. But the IS is remaining a strong seller, just leaving the Q50 in its dust.

and who new the LS would manage to outsell the A8 and 7 series, gotta hand it to them, they are clearly doing something right.

I just can't get past the looks without feeling nauseous

They've got some crazy lease offers going on. Not knocking them, just stating the fact.

Lol, they aren't alone, A8's and 7's have cash on the hood as well, probably has something to do with Benz stockpiling them in pre-owned inventory as previous owners trade in for an S Class

please don't even mention the S class in reference to the LS. the cars are in two different classes in EVERY way...performance, styling, technology, price and who buys them. old people who don't care about cars and are too cheap to buy an S class buy the LS. take a look at the drivers of these cars.

the advertised deals are $799/month for the LS and $1299/month for the S-class. and that's without the $30,000 in options you can easily add on the S. that's a 63% price difference.

@enthusiastx11 easy, I am a 45 y/o driving a 2009 LS and I do care about cars (probably I am an outlier) but I purchased it primarily because of value (I paid $57K on a car with a sticker price of $65K) and because of need (my previous job required me to be on the road on much of the southeast visiting clients).
I admit, the S-Class in the benchmark of this category but the LS is still competitive. I have had my fair share of issues with the car, so I am not even going to mention "reliability". Most of these idiots on this board that claim the LEXUS are extremely reliable are full of it, I bet none of them own one.

USNA1999, I owned a Lexus GS at one point, and would absolutely hesitate to ever own another Lexus product. Honestly, and I can only state facts, but the Lexus was probably my most disappointing car to ever own. The interior quality wasn't as good as the automotive press likes to tout it to be. And I had 2 MAJOR problems occur with the car in the very short time that I owned it. And it was a very short time because I took a $6k loss on the car and dumped it.

Can't all these sales numbers be posted in one article instead of have to scroll through all of these to get to other things? It would be much appreciated...like you do with the autos show articles.
