Is BMW Targeting Soccer Moms Or Taxi Fleets With 7 Seat 2-Series Active Tourer?

The seven-seat version of the new BMW 2-series Active Tourer has again been spotted testing in preparation for its arrival in car showrooms in 2015.

BMW's new seven-seat model will have the same wheelbase as the five-seat 2-series Active Tourer, which goes on sale in the UK in late September.

However, it will have slightly longer bodywork than the five-seater, which measures 4342mm in length. Occupant accommodation will be arranged in a two-three-two formation, with two small seats in the rear.

If they were targeting the Taxi Fleet, then it rally should have been a hybrid. In my area the Ford Escape hybrid was hugely popular and are now being replaced by a growing fleet of Prius as the Escape ages out.

Prius is great for inner city transport, but lack of luggage space kills it for serious airport duty.

These quasi van things are pretty big in Europe so whoever buys those in Europe is who BMW is targeting.

They are targeting Europeans. It is a family car but not enormous like other cars with that seating arrangement. MPV's are quite popular in Europe.
