AUDI AG has started the second half of the year with further sales growth: global sales increased year-on-year by 9.7 percent in July to around 144,000 cars. The company again managed to boost sales in each of the top three sales regions around the world: by 5.4 percent in Europe, 16.2 percent in Asia-Pacific and 12.1 percent in North America. Since January around 1,013,350 cars with the four rings have been delivered to the brand’s customers, an 11.1 percent increase.
“We successfully managed to continue our global growth strategy in July and for the first time in Audi history exceeded the million mark for cars sold after just seven months,” says Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. “This means that we are in a very good position to achieve well over 1.6 million deliveries this year.”
The Audi A6*, the brand’s top-selling full-size model, played a significant role in the positive monthly figures in July. Thanks also to the strong demand for its particularly efficient ultra version*, global deliveries of the model rose by 13.6 percent compared with the prior-year month to around 26,500 units. With the A3 Sedan*, which is attracting large numbers of prospective customers to dealers internationally, the A3 family* accounted for the strongest growth in the Audi portfolio in July, with sales up 52.3 percent to around 25,450 cars.

Audi's strong global growth continues unabated. With sales up 15.6% on the month in China and amazingly up 17.4% YTD to nearly 317,000 vehicles, Audi continues its dominance in the hugely important Chinese market.

With the U.S. launches of the A3 TDI, A3 Cabriolet and S3 Sedan starting this week combined with the upcoming Q3 sales launch at the end of August, Audi's U.S. sales should see huge growth into the second half of 2014.

BMW better watch out because Audi's product portfolio is rapidly expanding with desirable new models and its geographic global sales breakdown is extremely favorable given the rise of China into a global economic juggernaut.

Uhoh, Looks like Mercedes slightly Reduced the Gap between them and Audi from this time last year.

July 2013 Audi had a 100k plus vehicle lead of Merc in the Global race, July 2014, its dropped down just under 100k.

This is attributed to Mercedes strong increase in China, outpacing Audi, while expanding their lead over Audi in the U.S. simultaneously.

With the launch of an All new C class and GLA, and a special long wheel base C Class for the Chinese market...Mercedes may leap frog the competition globally sooner rather than later...

You forget, Car4Life, that Audi has also reduced the gap between BMW and itself this year. Audi is not sitting still. The new Q7 SUV and A4 Sedan are not far off at all. If those new models are a huge hit with their aggressive and differentiated exterior and interior design theme, maybe BMW will be surpassed by Audi next year in respect to global sales.

That's fine but your article title said Mercedes-Benz, not BMW, so I just thought i'd insert some facts, as Benz is not resting on their laurels.

As far as this promised "aggressive/differentiated exterior" talk goes, we've seen the shots of the Q7 testing...not really much groundbreaking going on design wise, certainly not worth throwing off production cycle for...

Time will tell

The C-Class is being introduced to major markets in September, along with the GLA. Both of these volume cars should shrink the gap a bit.

Considering MB sold 130,000 units and Audi sold 144,000 globally for July 2014, that means the gap got BIGGER between Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

again, this time last year(July 2013), Audi's lead was more (100k plus) over Benz.

For July 2014, its now less than 100k, BIGGER picture, Audi's lead has gotten smaller.
