DRIVEN + VIDEO: Consumer Reports Takes A Crack At The All-New Lexus NX, Gives It A Whack
The all-new Lexus NX is one of those products that you see and you immediately feel something. Be it good or bad, it makes you either fall in love or hate it from the get-go.

Personally, I think we've made ourselves clear on what we think of it — it will be a raging success.

BUT, what do the folks over at Consumer Reports think? Although I know they do catch quite a bit of flack around here and from serious auto junkies, the reality is that the average Lexus buyer does consider the company's opinion and weights it quite strongly.

That said, if you're intrigued by what CR is thinking, check out the video clip below. Believe you me, this isn't the old CR that would have a lovefest with ANY Toyota or Lexus product. Quite a bit of criticism concerning Lexus' all-new entrant.

Is the all-new Lexus NX shaping up for you OR is its legacy already starting to look DISMAL?

This isn't the FIRST pub to have not-so-nice things to say about the NX.

Late to the upscale small SUV fray, the Lexus NX is far more than a fancy Toyota RAV4. Rather than typical Lexus plushness, the NX aims to be sporty and engaging. Engines include a new turbo four-cylinder and a hybrid.

I saw it in flesh in downtown LA a week ago. at 900 w Olympic. they were shooting the commercial for this ugly shit. it looks gorgeous in pics compare to the real thing. you want to barf,?? wait til it comes out and look at it from close. with Benz and Bimmer coming out with better looking small SUV's I don't think this shit has a much a chance, but time will tell

Not much of a Whack, standard balanced feedback. Toyota actually created the category with the RX and Germans copied it.

That is VERY true and true to German form they made their copies stupidly complicated and expensive for no reason.

How did the germans copy the RX? all of BMW's suv's are rear wheel drive/AWD, as are Mercedes. Audi is a much higher performing vehicle. If anything, Cadillac and Lincoln copied, as they made car based crossovers to compete with the RX. The first ML was a body on frame truck, the X5 was a rear/AWD, the RX is a transverse FWD/AWD. In fact, only Audi has anything that could be considered competition for the RX, and even then it is a whole different animal. Only thing that really even competes with the RX is the 2010+ Cadillac SRX, Acura MDX, Lincoln MKX, the rest are rear wheel drive based (except the Audi Q5).

My C-class still rocks with 215000 miles on it. Thanks for asking.

Looks better in black because it blends in with black plastic wheel arches. Damn that hood is stretched.

benzforlife, good for you... My first car was an E320 (W124), I had it for 11 years. After the 7th year it was endless routine trips to the shop. I still love Benz, but if you do have a 215k mile Benz, I'd stay away from it like it's the plague.
