Toyota President Confirms A New LFA Sports Car Is In The Works
The Lexus supercar will officially make its triumphant return. After the LFA’s two-year production run ended in 2012, its successor has now been confirmed. Lexus Vice President Mark Templin has just announced the good news. And like the LFA, this new supercar has the full backing of Toyota President Akio Toyoda. "Akio believes that every generation deserves to have a car like an LFA, so we’re building an LFA for the generation we have today," Templin stated.

Great car but as much as it costs it better beat the GT-R Nismo around the Nürburgring.

Let's just hope the gestation period isn't 7 years like before

The LF-LC should have "replaced" the LFA as the halo car in 2012. The LFA is an impressive vehicle, but it's also utterly pointless because it has nothing in common with regular Lexus products and that's Lexus' fault. The LFA should have been used as a "commercial" for the "BMWization" of Lexus with the LF-LC showing up as bridge between the LFA and the newly revitalized sedans.

Didn't happen.

The fact that they killed the LFA only to do another supercar shows illogic, but it's the same illogic that Acura uses with the NSX and Nissan uses with the GTR. The Japanese love doing a supercar as a halo and then literally ZERO percent of that DNA finds its way into their mainstream cars.

Matt I don't think you have been paying attention to what Lexus is doing because there are a lot of things that have bled down from the LFA into their new lineup. I do agree with your LF-LC comment though, that should have been the new Halo car for Lexus until the next LFA...

I agree with Matt on this one. Too much of a gap between the Halo cars and the regular products. As I said before on this forum, too many companies expect us to buy their normal, (read boring) cars because they make one super car. I'd love to see a lot more of a trickle down effect to add some excitement to the regular product lines. I for one buy on the merit of an individual product and am not much effected by the prestige of a halo car.

the biggest problem i think is price. the lfa looks great, and maybe the greatest exhaust note of all time but at 400k id rather have a whole bunch of other exotic cars, like a 458, aventador, huracan, mclaren, and if im going japanese, id rather have an NSX..
if the lfa was 200k, i think it would make more sense..

The people who'll buy this car don't have the money concerns that you and I have. They don't care about making "sense".
