MINI Ceases Production Of Clubman Model Ahead Of Schedule

The BMW owned brand MINI has recently stopped producing the Clubman despite its replacement is one year away from going official. The announcement hasn’t been made official just yet but according to the Dutch publication Telegraaf, the model in question has left the production line.

Our source is saying that a production ready version of its successor is approximately one year away, but even so, the company will be introducing a concept car which will offer a preview on its replacement.

This is a good decision. It will deplete the supply of the current one as dismayed (idiot) buyers learn "they don't make this anymore" and "the new one is more than a year away". With the ensuing gap there will be pent up demand because people who want Minis, want Minis.

This is Mini being smart. Having the new Cooper arrive with so many old Coopers on the lot was not a wise move and Mini had to put cash on the hood to move the old one and had to do sweet leases to prime the new one.

The 5 door Mini will more than fill the niche of the original Clubman. The new Clubman is a better looking product though at least in the Concept version.

The new mini was sort of cute when it came out. Each new model has gotten uglier than the one it replaces.
