Maserati To Resist The Trend Of Going Smaller And Down Market
The Maserati Ghibli has so far been a huge success for the Italian automaker. In fact, it’s been hard for dealerships to keep them in stock. Smaller than the Quattroporte, the Ghibli is solid proof that consumers are anxious for a smaller Maserati sedan. they have gotten a lot of crap just for a 65k ghibli ( even though im sure no one gets one for less than 70k after options)
i wouldnt mind if they had a car the size of a 3 series, but i guess it would just turn them into benz, bmw, audi..

While I would love to see a 3 series fighter from them, I'm sure there business has strategically decided this on a reason. Perhaps it keeps brand perception as a high end product. In any event, this is based on one article and not coming from an exec at the company.

Maserati should be the Italian BMW i.e. premium. Alfa Romeo should be the Italian Acura i.e. near permium. THAT SIMPLE.

The goal is SALES not some BS idiocy about Maserati = exclusive.

The Ghibli is pretty nice for a "Chrysler 300" with a new front suspension.

It looks like they would prefer to sell at a pretty hefty premium. The Ghibli starts higher than the 550i and BMW might not be selling that more 550is than Maserati is Ghiblis.

I say not a bad gig for Maserati.
