I'll believe it when I see it. At this point Alfa Romeo is pure vapor. If and when the Giulia does come it will likely be another "OK" product from FCA rather than a home run. The Ghibli is OK but the BMW 5 and Mercedes E are better for less money. The 500, Dart, Cherokee, and 200 are OK but nothing special. The 4C is OK but a Porsche is better for the same price and a Stingray is lot better for a lot less. The 500L is a pure dud and the Jeep Renegade remains to be seen.

Marchionne's people are not hitting home runs. They are content getting to first base and that mentality will not relaunch Alfa Romeo. And even if Alfa Romeo is successfully relaunched, it will take decades for them to have the clout of Mercedes/BMW.

I see Alfas daily. As an American, I've always dreamed of owning an Alfa SZ or a 159 because of the uniqueness. After living around these things for a few months now, Alfa doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell, trying to re enter the US market with any type of substantial offering aside from its current polar-opposite offering. And I say this as a fanboi who would love to snap my fingers and see Alfas sold alongside Chryslers. The infrastructure and moronic dealer rules don't support it.

And those moronic dealer rules come from Marchionne. The people who own the local Chrysler/Jeep dealer also sell Fiat, but they had to build a Fiat dealer to get the franchise. Utterly moronic and the moron behind it is Marchionne.

Fiat should have been put in Dodge dealers and Alfa Romeo into Chrysler dealers. Moreover Maserati should be in Chrysler dealers in markets where a stand-alone Maserati dealer either does not exist or is not feasible.

We asked about Maserati but were told no because it would be in co-branded dealer with Lincoln.

Mattdarringer...here in Leiden, NL, I suppose due to space limitations, you'll have in a single building with Alfa, Fiat, Citroën and Opel; 3 different company marques under a single roof.
