What is your favorite car manufacturer?

Since I didn't put this into the actual article I will say this: My favorite brands are Toyota, BMW, Honda Audi, and Ferrari (in that respective order - well maybe you can take Ferrari out and Honda includes Acura, while I am not that fond of Lexus I don't hate it).

This topic will only bring up another brand war. But my favorite manufacturers are Acura, BMW, Porsche, Lexus, Mercedes, Lamborghihi, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Infiniti, Bentley, RR, so I guess it's basically all the big companies. It's too hard to decide because I like at least one model from all that I listed. It's hard to say.

Since the purpose of this topic is to find out which ones is my favorite. It boils down to Mercedes or Lamborghihi. Mercedes for more praticality/affordability and Lambo for desirebility lol.

It's funny how Toyota is said in the same breath as Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

There is something seriously wrong here.

Well its good to know what the peoples real favorites are when they actually put down another brand.

Here is what I think. I believe that you probably don't have a favorite brand, but you do have preferences of one brand over another. How can I say this: "It's funny how Toyota is said in the same breath as Mercedes-Benz and BMW." This is why. You certainly like some brands more than others, thats all.

Also about liking one specific country of origin cars here is what I was aiming at:
Lots of people on this website are German car fans because they simply think that it is better just because it is German and because of no other reason. This is what I was trying to say.

Although liking them all is also good: I mean you are a car enthusiast right :).

Since I was 10 years old and until the day I die. Enthusiast, Customer and Loyal fan for life.

I do however respect certain other brands for the same reasons that I like BMW. I like brands with strong product line-ups. Mercedes has always been on an even par with BMW in this respect, and with it's new model offensive AUDI is getting there too. It just so happens I prefer the "BMW Experience to that of Merc or Audi"

I've always had a soft spot for Aston Martin too.

Japanese cars I don't like. (with the exception of certain specific models, such as the Supra, the R33 Skyline and the NSX).

I also find myself being more attracted to Ferrari's these days too, the Enzo is one of their best design ever IMHO.

Brands I actually hate...

Renault, Peugeot, Citroen (there is a theme here).. and also Porsche... good product (apparentley) I just hate everything about the brand...

When I was growing up in the 1960s, I would often hang out with my grandfather who was a patriotic America. He wouldn't buy anything foreign - only American. So during these years up until the late 1980s when he died, he would always alternate between Cadillac's and Lincoln.

Among some of the cars he had which I fondly remember were:

1967 Cadillac Eldorado
1970 Cadillac Sedan De Ville
1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV
1984 Lincoln Continental Mark VII was his last car...

Basically, I like these two brands because of their history and tradition and my family's relationship to them. Cadillac among others, was one of the big innovators when it came to American car brands. Currently, I like the Cadillac STS and the Lincoln Zephyr.

America = American

Porsche...there is no substitute...

Bentley (so british i love them), audi (a8, a6, tt), mercedes-benz (esp the 540k and 300sl), land rover, lincoln (only the 1960s ones though), caddy (only the 50's ones), bmw (last gen 7, current z4), citroen (so avantgarde), dusenburg, delage, pierce-arrow (i love the 1920s and 30s).
porsche, ferrari and lambo don't do it for me.

i'm a big fan of Honda/Acura and Mercedes. i USED to be a fan of Toyota, until my MR2 Spyder. it has got to be one of the WORST for reliability.

on a related note....

anyone wanna buy an MR2 Spyder? lol.

everyone has there favs but im sure they havent even owned a single car from all or any of these car makers. I have had both MB and Acura. I like Acura better. For now at least...
I do like the designs from car makers like Audi and BMW but i havent personally owned them so i dont know about quality or service.

Rover and Alfa Romeo are somewhere in the middle, and
Toyota and Peugeot would both be on my most hated list.. and I've owned 1 of each.

My next car will be a BMW coupe.
My current car (on order) is an Audi.

It's pretty much about those two brands for me. Would ideally like to own one of each!

I have owned very few of these cars but I have disassembled the interiors and driven everything from an Aztec to a Murcielago to a ford gt.

Top 5:

1. Ferrarri-----F360 is the sexiest car I have been in.

2. Infiniti----G35 puts this company here on its own.

3. Chevrolet---I am a truck guy and the z06 is stunning!

4. Lexus----The best assembled vehicle, period.

5. BMW----Get rid of idrive and they might be higher.


My list sounds absurd I am sure but my bias comes from working on these cars all day----take the lower dash off a mercedes once and try to get it back on right.

I like to add things to my vehicle that offer convenience---remote start, a decent audio system, etc. and the german/european companies make this extremely difficult.

you know, kart1 asked for a favorite manufacturer, one, singular manufacturer of choice, not a pointless list full with excuses. alas we got junk, as usual.

Hands down Lexus as you may have guessed. On my 5th and have never encountered problems at all. Sorry to say I have never owned an American vehicle. I have had Nissans, Infinitis (lemon law buy back on the Infiniti so many problems), and one Toyota Camry. Toyota dealerships are the worst in customer care. Lexus's new 3.5 engines have upped the fun factor quite a bit. IS 350, GS350, and yes even my RX 350 is now faster than ever and gets better gas mileage than my '04 RX 330 did and is actually more fun to drive. I was hesitant when the Canadian plant started producing Rx's but have found them to be top notch in fit finish and overall quality. I love the styles of some of the German makes, but have never been treated well at their dealerships, and have heard and read nightmare stories of several problems. I know you German diehards will have fun with this one, but the overall experience I have had with Lexus has been nothing but positive. Dealers and products are first rate in my opinion. These vehicles may provide too much of a luxury soft ride, but in test driving the new IS350 last week, I was blown away by the handling and luxury features for a reasonable value. Sorry, but when a car company has to charge extra for leather seating offering standard "leatherette" and virtually everything you would want is an option with some vehicles assembled in Alabama, I find it hard to see what the attraction is for an overpriced status symbol that more and more people are finding out are'nt what they used to be.

I went to an Ultimate driving experience event when the X5 was introduced. The tester's A/C stopped working on our test ride and pieces of the interior were already coming lose. But it sure was fun to drive.....Bottom line, if you have the patience to deal with a service rep it sounds like the German vehicles are for you...I'm still waiting to buy my first American car. I would love to some day. I'm tired of giving the Japanese my hard earned money. Oh well, one can only hope.

I have had several Audis. The quality and attention to detail are outstanding (but that is true of some Asian imports too.) But nobody makes a nicer interior.

Porsche makes cars that are fast and fun but practical too. They are comfortable and relatively refined. They can be serviced (albeit at a fairly high price) which is more than can be said of some exotics.

BMWs are good cars but their styling is so bad that I literally would not be seen in one. They lost two sales in the past year (to me) for this reason.

BMW may make fine cars but they look nasty. Some cars are excellent but not handsome but only BMWs are intentionally off-putting.

For the record, I should add that I currently own an Audi A6 Avant (station wagon) and a Porsche Cayman S. Before I got the A6, I had an Audi allroad which was a fantastic car in every way. No explation is needed for the Cayman, I it is fast and comfortable. The mid-engine is a joy, it handles brilliantly, the gearbox is fantastic and it even has reasonable storage space.

huu, the new jeep commander and grand cherokee have independent suspension.

IRS is robust enough, the rest of the world is happy using it. it's only america that insists on it for their vehicles.

I like cars that can actually do something. Off road is great, so something like land rover or hummer. Maybe jeep.
