What Would You Do If You Found Out A Mechanic Took Your Car Home For The Weekend?

A Calgary couple is outraged after a mechanic at a local Audi dealership took their luxury sedan home for the weekend.

Chris Jackson said he wasn’t told his Audi S4 was going to be driven by someone else for several days while it was getting fixed.

He said he only found out when he returned to the dealership on the Saturday to get something he forgot inside his $70,000 car. Unable to find his car in the lot, he asked where it was parked.

“And the dealer’s response was, ‘It’s OK, just go home, your car’s fine, it’s probably just somewhere on the lot. We can’t find it.’”

Well, it did say the issue was with the navigation system, so I can see why they would be driving it around. I have had mechanics drive my car around (granted I was aware they would be doing so). I think the Audi dealer should have been more upfront with the customer. Driving a car around to troubleshoot an issue is okay, but having a mechanic take it home for the weekend is not. If they have to drive it to troubleshoot the issue, it should be driven from the dealer and returned to the dealer, not sent to hang out at somebodies house.

What the article failed to mention was that the mechanic put 300+ miles on the car. That's 2-weeks worth of driving for me. You do not need to drive that many miles to determine a navigation system issue.

When you buy an Audi, you get an Audity experience. The dealer was clearly 100% in the wrong.

Find him in a dark alley and beat him with a Louisville Slugger.

i always check my mileage before i give it in just to make sure they dont have too much fun over the weekend. never had any problems except the service dept at bmw of bayside stole like $15.00 in singles and quarters that i leave in the center console. never complained about it because there are signs asking not to leave anything valuable in the car, i just trust people and expect them not to steal small change like that...

Sad that a dealership knows that their employees are a bunch of crooks.

BMW of Bayside is one of the worst BMW dealers in the area. When I walked into the service center once, I saw workers with falling pants and angled hats, never went back ever since.
