SPIED: Cadillac's All-New Large Luxury Sedan, The LTS, Gets Nabbed
Although it seems a rather steep hill to climb, General Motors' Cadillac division will square up with the likes of the Audi A8 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Yes, there are also cars like the 7-Series and Lexus LS, but I would be hard-pressed to call them competitive these days. Wait until the all-new models come out with those guys.

The car is tentatively being called the LTS and right here is another set of spy shots coming to us from abroad. From what we can see it appears quite a bit longer than the brand's current offerings and appears to be sporting that prominent Cadillac face.

Styling is said to be inspired by the likes of the much-loved concept, the Elmiraj.

If this car will debut anywhere, we're putting our bottom dollar on the Detroit Auto Show; however, I have heard rumors a New York appearance may be in the works.

I guess Cadillac is already planning for this to follow the footsteps of the XTS and become the all-new "black car."

At the most this car will be more athletic than a standard S550, but that will be it. CUE won't touch the tech inside the S-Class and GM isn't going to spend the money to come up with an interior to match or beat the S-Class interior. It will have more power than the S-Class. I expect the base version will have a 420-450hp turbo V6 from the CTS/XTS V-Sport models and the uplevel engine will be a version of the V8 in the new CTS-V (Detroit 2015) and new Z06 Corvette. If they have any sense they wil price it right (i.e. less) than the S-Class and try to beat it on value/power/handling rather than going to wheel to wheel in luxury and tech.

Pretty sure the point of entry is a strong interior...I doubt this car will come up short, it HAS to have a world class interior. The GM engines are excellent, are these comments meant to say they're substandard? I'll be they're dramatically less expensive to fix too...

No question the car needs to be as good or better, but at a value ... Anything else is very steep uphill climb.

Well, the ATS and CTS had to be world-class, and they weren't and are suffering for it. I just don't trust that Cadillac can build a car that can truly go toe-to-toe with its direct competitors on all fronts. Yes, their cars outhandle their competition, but their buyers aren't traversing winding mountainous roads every day nor going to frolick on a track for a day.

And, despite, the camo, it already looks like it's going to be a styling disappointment. Just typical boxy Cadillac. No longer the progressive, edgy modern styling that the 2nd generation CTS brought to the table or the appealing look of the Elmiraj.

It does not have to sell well to be be successful. It just has to be credible. This along with extended wheelbase versions of the ATS and CTS (to replace the ATS and CTS) would really place Cadillac credibly in the market.

Calling this the Elmiraj would be brilliant.

Completely agree Matt. Cadillac has to be consistent, to build on the products. They must and I believe they will, continue to grow the brand with each successive model... Their credibility rests in delivering world class, every time. Time will honor that commitment. Pricing is certainly a key, the ELR is a missed oppty. With the new ATS Coupe, not sure how the ELR should be positioned. A "halo" car it is not... a really nice car, it certainly is, just expensive. Matt, what say you about the ELR?

It's funny reading the comments of the uninformed. They show things they either read, heard or simply have concocted in their minds. The CTS and ATS best most of their respective competitors in form and function. It's the brand image that's the issue for Cadillac. Many people recall their parents or grandparents when they think of Cadillac and it's not that car anymore. We call BMW, Audi and Mercedes world class cars when the truth is, they make very good cars but it's the lease deals that give them traction. If it weren't for leasing the industry landscape would be vastly different. Now all of that being said, Cadillac will have to raise the bar with this car and cone out swinging and hard. It's a tough market to get into being it's largely fueled by image. In my opinion, the car to best in this class is the Audi A8. The S550 is a nice car but it's completely over engineered. Most people don't take advantage of even half the technology in cars today.
