If Hyundai Is Building The GENESIS Of SUVs Would YOU Consider It?
Over the past handful of years we've been staggered by the progress that Hyundai has made. And, not only Hyundai, its sister brand Kia ain't too shabby these days either.

Now remember when the company introduced the all-new Genesis sedan that aimed to take on the likes of the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, Lexus GS, Infiniti M and Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

And Hyundai did it successfully?

As Agent009 brought news to you the other day, the latest word on the street is that the company is going to be at it again but this time it'll be a bit different. This go 'round Hyundai will be looking at take a bite out of the Audi Q5, Cadillac SRX, Lexus RX, etc. market share. Considering the reception of the Genesis sedan, we wager that if Hyundai can bring to market a vehicle that has more features and a decent powertrain at an affordable price, it will have another vehicle getting buyer's attention.

Of course knowing that our audience are the tastemakers, we wanted to ask YOU: if Hyundai is building the GENESIS of SUVs, would YOU consider putting one in YOUR garage?

Hyundai solid build and design. Exceptional good looks with extremely long term warranty. A win win for buyers.

That should be interesting. The new Genesis looks pretty good. Someone on my street has one.

Have you sat in the inside. When you look closer, you start to see where the cost savings are. Material and plastics are not first rate. They may check the box on features, but the quality is not there.

Acually, Jeffgall the quality is there especially when you compare unscheduled warranty issues of the Genesis versus the Germans. Quite simply, Hyundai builds a much better vehicle to live with.

If the Genesis were built by Mercedes, BMW, Audi, or Lexus, would you feel the same way about it? Or is it just the fact that it's coming from the "luxury underdog" swaying opinions?

From the reviews I've read, yes, the Genesis is a good car. But the reviews really don't amount to much more than what I've read about, say, a Lincoln MKZ, or Buick Lacrosse, or Cadillac XTS. It's a good, solid luxury car, and yes, it does look good, but it's not a dynamic driver. It doesn't really break any new ground in terms of technology or otherwise.

Well, I don't think the vehicle is meant to be groundbreaking. Hyundai's Genesis was a value buy relative to its peers, assuming the consumer was simply looking for wheels to go from point A to B.

Agree, 00R and I think that's my point. It's almost being hyped as being groundbreaking and threatening the Big 4's products, etc. Yet, it's really just a decent-looking, "A-to-B" car, when all is said and done. And I'm not sure it really represents a value, per se, since other "A-to-B" cars are priced similarly, i.e., Lexus ES, Buick Lacrosse, Lincoln MKZ, Toyota Avalon, Chrysler 300, etc.

It's due to the fact that they will use the cheapest materials possible and the car won't last or hold its value because of that.....

It's reliability versus the Germans is a LOT better. The Germans cannot make a car that isn't always in the shop for something.

It'll be like the current Genesis:
On the showfloor it will look great!
A year later, it will age as if it's been a rental car for 5 years and has 50,000 miles of "I don't care, it's not mine" on it.

One year to a Hyundai is like 10 to most other makes. They really don't hold their age well.

looks like the new NX. It's not even in the states yet and they copied it.....

The overall design, price and reliability of Hyundai/Kia's are fine. The small little things like: hard seat cushions, seat wells that are not wide enough, seriously hard plastics to the touch and overall 7/10 performance holds them back for me. The Genesis versions are better, but they lack that something that makes a car special.

This is an interesting design. I can't wait to sit in it at the next autoshow.

a few buddies bought the previous generation Genesis R spec and it's holding up great.

The newest Genesis is a very good looker and the interior has improved a lot. it's actually a non issue when I sit in it. Still not 5 serious beautiful nor refined, but getting there.

A Genesis SUV will give most buyers what they want. a value RX350. Nothing wrong with that because dynamics aren't the main reason to buy.
