SPIED + VIDEO: SEEN and HEARD! If This Is The BEST Listen Of Porsche's All-New Flat Four, Are YOU Impressed?
In recent months, news has broke that Porsche will be working on an all-new four-cylinder motor for its Boxster and Cayman. At first I was a bit bummed. I hate four cylinders.

They're buzzy and, frankly, unrefined.

The good news is that Porsche won't be doing things the typical way. According to reports, the German automaker will do its best to retain a great sound as it is set to use a flat four set up. And now is the first time you're going to get a GOOD listen of it at work.

So, dial up the volume on your computer and let us know in the thread below: does the all-new Porsche four sound up to spec or is a disappointment?

After we’ve previously filmed two rather extraordinary Boxster/Cayman prototypes running the ‘Ring in July, Porsche has now returned to the Nürburgring with two other Boxster S/Cayman S prototypes. Again, these two cars feature an engine sound we haven’t heard before on the Boxster or Cayman. And again it raises the question if these could be 4-cylinder testcars of Porsche?

As a curretn Boxster owner, I can't tell any difference in sound with the 4 cylinder Boxster. Looks like Porsche just made the best sounding 4 cylinder. Although the 4 cylinder Cayman sounded a bit off to me.

I heard one clip that sounded good and this one is much less impressive.

For me, the jury's still out.

I know it's mule, but since the Boxster had red calipers on it, I wonder if that was the higher-end turbo 4 cylinder that Porsche is planning to roll-out and the base turbo 4 may not sound as good.

Completely possible that there will be a Boxster with a four and there could be a Boxster S with a four and a turbo.

Does that mean the price will be considerably lower for such a little engine? After all, doesn't every Porsche owner was a slower sports car with a little engine?

I wouldn't bet on it.

If what we're hearing is true, the four will make the same, and most likely, MORE power.

My buddy's Boxter S is really new and has good power but I the torque I love was totally missing in his, this turbo should do the trick nicely!
