STUD OR DUD? Volkwagen Unleashes A CLA Killer Of Their Own In China

Following yesterday's fully revealing spy shots, Volkswagen has introduced the Lamando at the Chengdu Auto Show in China.

It's essentially a production version of the New Midsize Coupe (NMC) concept unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year and has received the Lamando nameplate. It's not based on the China-spec Sagitar (Jetta) as the model rides on Volkswagen's MQB platform so it shares many of the internals with the seventh generation Golf.

Not as good as a true Jetta/Golf CC but better than some of the super blurry spy shots seen recently of this thing.

Pure GARBAGE. Spanish speakers will laugh their asses off at the dumb name. First "Corrado" made Spanish speakers snicker at the similarity to a word describing post-ejaculatory bliss and now this..."la mando"...I send it. I'm sure it comes with the abysmal quality and reliability the VW nuts adore.

I predict this is the look of the next American Jetta.

Matt but they still manage to be in the top three in sales worldwide without even trying. Imagine if they would put a little more effort.

And a Chinese market name matters to Spanish speakers?

And TOYOTA and GM doesn't? BTW everyone from MB to LEXUS puts plenty of money of the hood, get real.

@USNA1999 you need to embrace relevance. Let the desperate flailing begin

Flailing? No flailing, just the facts. Look at the profits, everyone here knows you are biased and cannot stand VW.

@usna1999 You crow about their profits, but in Germany they are in crisis mode because their profits per vehicle are way below the industry average. As for my bias, I'm perfectly comfortable with it. VWs have horrible reliability and shocking component failures. My bias against them is pro consumer. I assume you're in love with them, so come to my store and I'll have a sales consultant sell you a half dozen. That way you'll always have one that runs.

As I've said MANY times. I'm not in business to love cars. I'm in business to make money. As long as VW makes money (largely on warranty work and post-warranty repairs) then I'm in. If you want to know what you should buy, I would steer you to a brand with better quality.

The venom I express is VERY much the venom dealers direct toward VW that staunchly refuses to give the North American market the correct products with appropriate quality all while bullying dealers to sell sell sell.

Matt you assume wrong, I am not in love with them, I just try to keep an open mind about everything I buy. My wife drives a V8 Touareg which we purchased new from Tom Busch VW/BMW because she didn't like the RX350 (not exclusive enough) or the MDX and we got a better deal than the X5 we almost purchased. She loves it and it's a dream to drive down I95 to Orlando or Miami.
Like I have stated many times, my experience (even a small sample) have been good with VW and other German brands, better than my LS460. Figure that one out when the LS460 was the flagship of LEXUS when I purchased it. Having said this, I buy what I can easily afford since I don't like to finance a car for more than 48 months and I buy what I like (I am not loyal to any particular brand). As a matter fact, I will be purchasing a new car in the few months, I currently like the new RC350, the 4 series, the GTI, the 5 series and the E Class. Who knows what I end up buying but once I do I will let you know so you can keep your spreading your "venom" towards German brands unless I get the RC. You see, I have more class and etiquette to be spreading "venom" around because I had issues with LS. I am better than that but I don't make or lose any money out of them like you. Maybe you can get me a good deal.

Hahaha wow. This will kill the CLA how, exactly? It is completely uninteresting. Then again, a lot of people do buy crappy VWs for what seems to be no reason other than to buy "European".

Like a lot of people buy crappy TOYOTAs. Not sure why? I guess to drive a "reliable" full of recalls toaster?

USNA1999 you need to get a clue. Your comments are so off base it is ridiculous. You want to throw all of that old recall crap again like a broken record? My friend you either need to be re-educated or just STFU because that is just embarrassing. At least Toyota had the balls to stand up and claim their problems on a whole where other manufactures are still hiding, A LOT! Toyota took a black eye for no reason except for haters like you who turn a blind eye to the truth and make propaganda from it. You spew nothing but ignorance and hatred...

VW, please learn from Toyota/Honda. Build only a basic 1.5L & 2.4 4 banger and 3.0L V6 engine. Make sure all the fuel pumps, alternators, electrical components etc. are bullet proof and do not change the design for many years. Great for reliability. Forget about BMW and MB. Let Audi and Porsche do that. Get your American SUV line up secure. I remember seeing a Vanagon concept a few years back. Be innovative in design with VW roots.

I don't think VW is capable of understanding that they need to embrace simplicity. VW need Alan Mulally at the helm.

CLA and CLS both are what they creatively call 4-door coupe and both specialize in ugly hanging asses, useless back door,

where is the hanging or sagging ass on this car??? this car has a nice perky ass and for its size has a decent size back door

I think they should call this the up and coming Jetta, to me it looks more suitable for Jetta
