Pop Tart Theme Pisses Off Ferrari, Lawyers Send Cease And Desist Letter To Performer DeadMau5
When you buy a car you are entitled to do whatever you want with it. Deadmau5 decided wrapping it in ugly blue with a cherry Pop Tart cat on its doors would be awesome for the Gumball 3000. Ferrari lawyers didn't think so, and it pissed them off so much they sent a cease and desist letter to the Canadian progressive-house music producer and performer. First things first, maybe Ferrari needs to chill out a bit regarding their "image," as one 458 Italia owner does not speak for them all.

Sorry guys. If it is my car I can do whatever I want with it.

Maybe if they send a few Sicilians to your house to ask you nicely, you'd change your mind. ;-)

It makes you wonder the verbiage in the sales contract.

Ferrari needs to settle the F* down....I actually think that's pretty cook in a Banksy-esk sort of way

Ferrari has the right to do so, as this could ruin their image. I heard that there was this woman who was driving Toyota Century (Which is only available in Japan and a few other countries) in "pink" and Toyota bought it back as this could tarnish their car's image (Since Century is the kind of car that the Japanese emperor uses)

In fact, Ferrari does not just sell cars. They are supposed to be the "royal family" of cars in the automotive hierarchy. You can do anything you like on the American and the Japanese cars (Except Century), as they both are struggling to be relevant in the automotive world, but Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, Bugatti and such hyper car brands are not something to mess with.

Upon reading more about this it appears the objection was to the 'Purrari' car inflicting on the Ferrari branding etc...that I kinda get but Ferrari still needs to lighten up a bit - also the paint was actually a wrap and has since been removed...

Unless the sales/lease contract prohibits you from making such modifications, Ferrari doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Pretty sure even if there was some bullshit in the sales contract, that it doesn't have to stand up in court. Get a smart lawyer and tell Ferrari to take a hike. This kind of stuff is pathetic.

The thing with Ferrari is if you aren't friends with them you aren't getting anything interesting/V12 from them in the future easily or at all. I think that's their biggest leverage.

I think Ferrari is just asking for it with this kind of nonsense. I can see some rich musician making something crazier than this just to troll Ferrari.

The real question is what is agreed to in the sales contract. If it is that draconian, then he is in violation of the contract. However if they would not sell him the car due to that clause, they might be liable for discrimination.

What about all that hideous crap Chris Brown does to his Lambos? You don't hear anything about Lamborghini going after Chris Brown for the appearance of his cars. And Lamborghini is a direct competitor of Ferrari.

Lamborghini's are all about flamboyance. Ferrari goes after old money.

Freedom of speech/ freedom of expression.... If Ferrari hadn't made a big deal about it, probably nobody would have heard about it or paid any attention.

You needa to see it my way or I shoota your knee caps off. Just a joke Bob. Lighten up. We gotta nothing against Italians. I'm American but my ancestors are German. Bring on the German jokes. I'll laugh with you.
