Audi A4 S4 Price Changes

good a loaded S line will be $1,900 less/ and you thought sales of the A4 was good already. The A4 is already the safest, has the best gas milage and is the most exciting car in it's class.

This should have said US price changes for 2007 :)

The S-line sport package was never $4400.

On the 2006 A4 it is $3000, meaning if these prices are correct, its actually gone up $400.

Either way, a fully loaded A4 3.2 is $50,000 or more....which IMO is too expensive. When I purchased my 2002 Audi S4 (mistake) it was out the door at $45,000 loaded up. My friend bought a 2002 A6 2.7T that year as well and with almost all options....it was still under 50 grand. This price gouging is BS. I know more options and tech means more money, but this is getting out of hand with all luxury car brands.

Audi is really building some steam in the industry~!

Chip- The 2007 price changes not the 2006 and the S line package is a totaly diffrent package for 2007.

What they are doing starting 9/5 is including the sunroof as standard equipment

Chip - some people have to drive Toyota and some people can drive BMW, Audi, and MB

The 2002 S4 is 1/2 the car of the 2007 and the 2003 A6 is nowhere as nice as the 2007. Yes there is a price change but I wouldn't call a $1,900 decrease price gouging.

AGAIN LOOK AT 2007 Price list and option packaging/ Totaly diffrent then the 2006.

Chip: You had the get the Sunroof Package first in order to get the S-Line Package.

The price changes appear to be a result of differing options within those packages, not actual reductions for the same packages.

tried so hard to make sure u wont get xenon for 2.0T (2006 at least)
if they offer A3. 20T w/ AWD , it should sells like a hot cakes too , who needs a dressed up GTI , Audi is about AWD...

I took a 2.0T A3 instead of an A4 because the package prices were so much cheaper. It was about $10K less to fully configure.

I know the A4 is a bigger car and yet, the A3 has more rear leg room.

I wish Audis were a bit cheaper. They are such nice cars and yet they seem expensive to me for some reason.

In 2006 the S=line package required you to order the Prmium Package and the Sunroof package to get it. In addition to the $3000 price tag for the S-line package, the Prmium Package was $1850 and the moonroof package was $1400 for a total of $6250. Now you can order the S-Line package alone for $3400 which includes everything in last years sunroof package. If you want the Items in last year's Prmium Package which included: Homelink, Power front passenger seat, Rain sensor, Heated front seats, and auto dimming mirrors, then you need to order this year's Convenience Package for $2100 which includes: Homelink, Power front passenger seat, rain/light sensor, auto dimming mirrors, trip computer, and Bi-Xenon Adaptive HID lights for a total of $5500 compared to last year's $6250.

By the way, if you want the Adaptive Bi-Xenon HID lights and the trip computer from last year's tech package, you had to pay an addtional $1775 to get that package. That package would have made a properly equipped S-line come to $8025 for all of those options. Yes you would have picked up Bluetooth, Heated front seats, Memory driver's seat and a color driver information display for the additional money.

For 2007, if the pricing info above is correct, the same options list would run: $3400 for S-line, $2100 for the convenience package, $500 for the Bluetooth, and $450 for the heated front seats bringing the total to $6450. The only items you lose on the 2007 model is memory drivers seat and the color trip computer which is now only available with Navigation for a savings of $1575.

I know, clear as mud huh?

Basically a 2007 A4 will be between $800 and $1,500 less than a 2006 A4 depending on equipment.

efoxS4: don't expect the 3.6 FSi to make it in the A4; it's a VW VR6 engine and won't be good for the A4.

I drove a 2006 A4 2.0t with the S-Line package today. It was a far superior car than the 325i Sport I drove right after it.

The price though, at $40k was a bit high. But I guess with the best interior materials in the industry, a highly regarded engine, and the some of the best automotive engineering, Audi can command such prices.

So you basically get an even better deal tha before. The first modular platform Audi will be the A5. The V6 3.2 liter engine will get an hp bump up to 300 hp.

No, the A5 has been rumored to come out earlier. But the difference won't be that big. A5 in to debut in winter/spring of next year and A4 in the fall.

I see this being the result of the new 335i Sedan that will be coming into the market.
Erstwhile, the S4 had a unique position because there was no direct coompetition from the other Luxury car manufacturers, same thing with MB CLK350.
With the introduction of the new BMW 335i, both the S4 and the CLK350 does have a stiff competition.
You will get similar performance from the E90 335i when compared to an Audi S4 for about $5k less.
You will also get a similar performance from an E92 335i when compared to a CLK350 for less than $5k.
So it seems to be the effect of competition and the 335i does present a viable option to the S4.

No, that looks like the European A4 DTM edition not sold here, I haven't heard of any styling changes for 2007.

The '07 S-Line 2.0t can be ordered with those wheels, but for the bodykit you must get the S4.

I read something by the CEO of Audi saying, "Our cars need to be less expensive..." so it seems they're trying to design and build their cars with better efficiencies. The S4 is an awesome car. If it were $5K cheaper even it would be a whole new ballgame. Perhaps in the next few years ...

AdmiralT20 - i don't think this has anything to do with the 335. The S4 is due for a refresh but you will probably not see one for another year after the new A4. Companies plan out their cars several years in advance and the new A4 is just about right for 2008 that will be 6 years after the mody changed.

Audiman4 - there is no diffrence in the 2007 outside for the A4 S line but the S4 gets a DTM package that looks hot. A lot like the 25th anaversery model that came out last year. Wow the DTM is only $1500 and the 25th cost about 10 k outch

IamEvilHomer, I agree with you that the 335 has nothing to do with the product refreshment cycle. What I was alluding to was the impact of this new competition on pricing, and the only thing that seemed to have made sense was the price difference between a similarly equipped 335 vs S4. My thinking is that in order to reduce perceive weakness(s4 being more expensive), Audi had to reduce the pricng on the options such that when you now compare similarly equipped cars, the difference is not that huge, and is palatable to the consumers.

Homer, I don't mean to disagree with your assertion. However, looking at the business landscape I don't think I've heard Steve Jobs say Apple computers are too expensive. Nor Carlos Goshen say it about Infiniti. It's generally not a confidence-builder to a consumer like me to hear that a CEO thinks his car line is too expensive.

In this case, I think it's great the Audi CEO said it because I agree with him, and through his candor I believe he's trying to fix a problem that's hurting competitiveness somewhat (one of Audi's only weaknesses IMO). It told me "he gets it."

the A4 is not set for redesign until 2008 and wont hit the US till 2009, according to autoweek.com. The new B7 A4 is a 2005.5 , so its usually 3-4 yrs before they come out with the new style.
