Toyota Celica Based BMW Z4 To Have 340 HP Supercharged V6
With BMW finally confirming a new Z4 roadster will arrive in 2017, rendering artists have presented their take on what the jointly-developed sports car could look like. Built in collaboration with Toyota, reports suggest the new Z4 and new Celica will share underpinnings, with power coming from a new 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder good for around 340 hp.

Expect a sub-five second 0-62 mph time, a sportier chassis, more aggressive styling and for the M division to take things to the extreme. Although perhaps not as extreme as this.

sounds great! 300hp in the inline turbo six is already plenty for me... I have the 4cyl with 240hp and 270tq and love it!

Wow is this headline wrong. The article states "new 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder good for around 340 hp."

No V6 mentioned, and not supercharged. Probably new generation of INLINE six debuting in the new 7er (G11). and most likely with a hybrid option.

I think the title should have been that BMW is sourcing its engine from Toyota, and a V6 no less

I see what BMW gets from Toyota but what does Toyota get in return from BMW?
Everyone wants a BMW with the reliability of a Toyota. Can't wait!

"Reliable" Toyota engines designed 12 years ago. Boring. BMW Z4 rendering looks great.

So the Celica is going from 1.8L to 3.0? I doubt this gets badged as Celica. I hope I'm wrong though.

Yeah, I agree. This sounds more like a Supra. The FRS should have been the Celica at least for the USA.
