OFFICIAL: 2007 Nissan Qashqai
Nissan today revealed the 2007 Nissan Qashqai, a new compact crossover for the European market.

Inspired by the concept car of the same name that was presented at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, the Qashqai is a new vehicle for Nissan in Europe, with sales starting in February 2007.

As well as European sales, Qashqai will also be exported from the Sunderland factory to Japan – where it will be named Dualis – the Middle East and "additional overseas markets." So far, there has been no word on U.S. availability.

Four engine options will be available — two diesel and two gasoline offerings. The 1.6-litre gas engine offers 115 hp and 160Nm or torque, while the 2.0-litre produces 140 horsepower and 200Nm. The diesel engine options – 1.5- and 2.0-litre - provide 106 and 150 hp, respectively and 240 and 320Nm of torque. Gearbox choices will include a five- and six-speed manual, a new six-speed automatic and a CVT. Both 2.0-litre engine options can be specified with Nissan's all-wheel-drive system.

It's Officailly Ugly!

But, I like the interior.
What's that i-Drive looking controller next to the parking brake?
It dosen't control the nav (That's what the buttons below the vents are for). Ride height, maybe?

QASHQAI ! ! ! ! !

I'd live to meet the person that came up with the name, and find out how much they get paid.

First off Qashqai is a weird name for a car. The headlights remind me of the ones that are on the GTI/Rabbit. The whole shape of the car isn't to my liking. However, the interior looks quite luxurious for an entry-level type Sports Utility. The seats look like it has above-par support and it's not too messy with buttons but instead very economical looking.

I'm assuming it's targets would be the CR-V, RAV-4, the likes of Suzuki, and RDX. I may be wrong. But from the size and the looks it would seem right.

Actually I like the external look of the car. It has nice curves and not too boxy. However the interior is just ok. For some reason, black interiors looks ugly for me. Black interiors doesn't look as luxurious. They look gloomy. Just my opinion.

Black is luxurious to me. But the tan leather w/ wood is usually the more lavish look. But the black is more of a cozy feeling. Black leather + Dark wood = nice to me.

But with this car black leather looks good.

This would definitely fight the Rav4 and CR-V. Maybe it'll make it to the US. Crossovers are gaining more popularity day after day. Of course we will need a V-6 here.
