Audi Raises 2014 Sales Target To 1.7 Million Vehicles As August Global Sales Rise 5.6% Driven By U.S. & Chinese Markets
Around 125,300 deliveries worldwide in August; increase of 5.6 percent

Sales chief Luca de Meo: “Demand remains on the up despite challenging market conditions”

Deliveries in North America doubled over past five years

Audi again maintained its path of growth worldwide in August: Sales rose 5.6 percent to around 125,300 automobiles. This brings the total number of customers who have chosen an Audi since the start of the year to around 1,138,700, an increase of 10.5 percent. The four rings grew particularly strongly in North America in August, increasing sales by 22.6 percent year on year.

“Worldwide demand for our automobiles continues to develop positively even if the economic environment in certain markets remains challenging. Regarding our deliveries total, we are confident of selling 1.7 million cars by the end of the year,” remarked Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at AUDI AG. “As well as the A3 family*, the popular A6 derivatives* in particular and also the successful Q models* are providing steady growth rates.”
In August, most notably the Audi Q3* lifted the sales total with an increase of 40.0 percent compared with the same month of the previous year. There was lively demand for the compact SUV in the United Kingdom (+25.3%) and China, where sales of this model more than doubled. The Q3 has also been available in the U.S. market since the end of August and will further strengthen sales of Audi’s family of SUV models there.

Wow Audi better watch out because in July, Audi sold 13,997 more units than Mercedes worldwide, but for August they sold only 6,413 units more.

They need to establish themselves quick in the U.S. because Mercedes biggest gains were made in China while simultaneously holding their position in the U.S.

Well, the gap is still getting wider between Audi and Mercedes-Benz. Sure, Mercedes-Benz might not be as far behind Audi as it once was, but it still isn't making up any ground.

As far as China is concerned, YTD Audi is still outselling Mercedes-Benz by more than a 2 to 1 margin and Audi sold more than double the number of cars Mercedes-Benz did for the month of August in China.

Another words, Mercedes-Benz might have larger percentage increases due to a smaller base figure (which is the same case for Audi in the U.S.) but in reality Mercedes-Benz is still far, far away from catching Audi in China and Audi is also not sitting idle. Audi is in the process of launching a huge model onslaught with the brand-new Q4 and Q6 SUVs, new Q7 and A4 models and brand-new A9 flagship coupe-like sedan.

Last year Audi was outselling Mercedes nearly 3 to 1, and 2 years before that nearly 4 to 1...bottom line Mercedes is gaining ground at a rapid pace.

It took Audi decades to pass Mercedes in global sales, while it may
take Mercedes less than 1 decade to retain its global sales crown.

time will only tell

GermanNut what the hell are you talking about? Can you not count the numbers? Mercedes is really close to Audi now worldwide on a month by month basis. Car4Life is right.

I predict big successes in China and "also ran" status in the USA. When the Chinese catch on to Audi's quality and reliability issues, Audi will be in deep spit. Audi is a joke compared to BMW and Mercedes volumes in NA.

I love how all the Audi haters continuously bash Audi on every post possible. Bottom line is that Audi is doing well whether you like it or not. If they were so unreliable like some of you claim (MDarringer) in every post, I think the sales wouldn't be in the positive year after year.
