Texas Governor Says As Long As States Over-Regulate, Texas Will Continue To Lure Away Companies Like Toyota
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a potential U.S. presidential candidate in two years, said companies such as Toyota Motor Corp. will invest where they’re least burdened by taxes and regulation.

Toyota, the world’s largest automaker, chose Perry’s state as the home for its new North American headquarters that will house about 4,000 employees. The Japanese company plans to finish construction as soon as 2016, when Perry could be a Republican candidate to succeed Barack Obama.

Perry, 64, touted the move by Toyota in a speech to The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan today while also ruing Tesla Motors Inc.’s decision to build a battery factory in Nevada. Perry said he called Governor Brian Sandoval to congratulate him even though Texas lost out on the plant.

Who knew an average cowboy had more brains than the morons running other much higher positions. Let Oregon stay bankrupt, let California act like a confused teenager on PMS having a hard time making a decision and then making the wrong decision and losing Toyota and others in the future, let Texas prosper from oil, big companies moving there, electronics/computer companies headquarters staying there, such as IBM.

Good for them

You mean recently indicted Gov Rick Perry? The one who is turning all the highways in Texas into toll roads? The one who I single handed lay street taxing Texans to the poor house but giving tax breaks to companies who have the $$$?

It's also worth noting that Texas has the 5th highest poverty rate in the US. A model state that that all states should try to emulate.

For using a line item veto? Yeah you can call that an abuse of power. A power the state gave him.

Jerry Brown is busy ass ramming California into a third world mess. Gotta love Texas. Neel Kashkari is the only hope for California. Democrats are an ANATHEMA to fiscal responsibility and common sense.

Down here (yes, I'm from Texas) it is abuse of power. Everything he did was corrupt. And talking about luring automakers? So what about Tesla? At least they're building a service center here in town.

All that oil makes for a distorted way of looking at the world and how much they can get away with how they treat others. Let's see Perry be Governor of a state like Connecticut, Nevada, or Georgia that has no oil. Perry's Texas is a lot like other oil-rich entities like Saudi Arabia and Russia in how they bully and bluster and how they coddle huge money crony corporations. Corruption is endemic in Perry's Texas, Russia, and Saudi Arabia.

When's this douche going to prison? I hope he is not again going to be part of the Republican clown posse of candidates for President....then again, he does provide some needed comic relief during the debates. He has been fine-tuning his stand-up routine since 2012.

FYI USNA1999, The average American tax rate is now lower than it was under Reagan. All the crying and belly-aching about Obama and "Democraps" is just plain silly and infantile. It's YOUR fault if you're a loser. Not Obama's. There were still lots of rich people when the top income tax rate was over 90% back under Eisenhower.

Hey rockhead - the highest tax rate was 28% under R/R the current under Barry Soetoro is now 39% + a 4% SurTax on higher earners. Why the Fed Gubment and Gubment in general thinks it deserves 43% of my income, then there is state, local, real estate, and sales taxes which push taxes closer to 60%...clearly either you cannot add, you're one of the what 90M Americans this govt is keeping unemployed, or and probably so, on the dole. My taxes are ridiculous... if yours arent then you're taker not a producer....We'll only keep producing so long, then your hammock falls into the crapper...

There will always be "richer" people than you, but the govt prevents folks from moving from lower middle to upper middle, or higher by stealing their income. Rich folks like John Kerry (marries into it) or the Clinton's (hiding income from taxes in their "trust") or the Kennedy (boot legging) will always game the system, but folks that work for a living are being robbed... quit blogging and go get a job...

@rockreid let me see, I earned $110K base salary as an Project Manager for an energy company (working 8 months out of the year), another $85k in overtime (we work 12 hr shifts onsite), $10K in per diem, $55K in retirement (CDR USN 20 years) and lastly $18K in VA compensation. This doesn't include my investments (dividends and so forth) or my rental income. You do the math and I think that puts my household in the top 5% income earners. I guess I am a real loser;)

@xjug1987 Don't even bother, we are probably paying "rockheads" unemployment and welfare checks.

Knocked down just under $200k in 2013, took a $92,500 foreign earned income credit, and got almost $7k back for getting married and standard deductions. Anyone bitching about taxes isn't doing it right.

I don't care whose in office. I'll take anyone willing to allow more coal fire power plants and upgrades without all of the gd restrictions. Bring on the TransCanada pipeline. Been waiting on the presidential permit since April 2013.

wow, what a moron. all it took was a simple Google search to being up numerous charts perfectly informing you that when Reagan took office the highest Federal tax rate was 69%, and was at 50% for most of his Presidency. It then was 38% and only fell to 28% during his very last year in office. I guess there were no rich people during the 80's lol. oh, BTW..then guess what... the economy sank into recession in just a few short years after his lowering taxes. And hey- the Canada middle class just passed the US middle class as the richest in the world recently despite having higher taxes and Government Universal Health Care. All the infantile childish moaning any groaning about Obama points to a certain set of people who just cannot deal with Reality and Facts.

Yea that makes sense…tax cuts = more money in our pockets to spend vs sending it to the Gubment. The Economy is us buying dishwashers, phones, couches, etc… so the economy tanks with tax cuts…pure ignorance…

Hey, quit evading your lies.. you said "the highest tax rate was 28% under R/R" which I have proven to be utterly and totally !00% False. The fact is, taxes right now under Obama are lower than for most of the latter half of the 20th Century yet the middle class is not doing as well as they were when taxes were higher. Utopia-believing Libertarians like Perry believe cutting taxes solves everything. It doesn't. Deficits explode. Reagan exploded his budget, Perry exploded his, and Bush 2 exploded ours most recently. It took the oil-find of the century to rescue Perry. Unfortnately, all that oil does;t do anything for the average US taxpayer, so we are left with Obama trying to mop up the mess. Oh- and BTW, Obama's deficit rate is rapidly shrinking the fastest rate in 60 years- not growing. Raising taxes a smidge has done a great service to dealing with the recent Bush/Cheney/Libertarian-caused crisis.

You know it has been a combination of spending cuts and higher taxes. So don't believe for a moment that it has only been the DEMs helping put a Band-Aid in our deficit. If it was just for the DEMs will would have never start getting out of the hole. Just look at states like California and Illinois. This is the Hand Out nation.

BTW I am a moderate Republican and really don't care who is in office, it really doesn't matter because they are all a bunch of crooks. I just want Congress to stop the "hand outs" and start cutting all unnecessary spending. I don't have an issue if taxes are raised and the revenue is used for cutting the deficit.
