STUD OR DUD? Aston Martin Unveils One Off Retro Shooting Brake For Customer

Italian coachbuilder Zagato Atelier has unveiled its latest project, the Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake Zagato.

The bespoke project, commissioned by a European client, is designed to "pay homage to Zagato’s artistic, Italian coachbuilding tradition on the canvas of a shooting brake body shape".

Zagato's shooting brake was revealed at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Concours D'Elegance. The one-off Aston Martin is said to feature "cutting-edge" styling cues that "create surprise and fascination with a new shape."

It's a Zagato not an Aston Martin. It's gorgeous and Aston should build it.

Can't say I am a fan of Zagato's work in general or in this case. Not my favorite shooting brake.

Not all Zagatos are created equal.

The good:
Aston Martin V8
Alfa SZ

The bad:
BMW Coupe
Spyker C12

The ugly:
Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake

Honorable Mention of the Millenium (and forever):
Mitsuoka Orochi - not a Zagato, but could probably benefit from them

I typically agree with Matt quite a bit on this forum but not this time. Gorgeous isn't how I would have described it. They should have hired Giorgetto Giugiaro, not Zagato and certainly not Pinin Farina. Guigiaro has penned some of the most beautiful cars ever built.

@40flash the homage paid to older, classic Astons is self-evident in the design without being retro. The styling shows a complete understanding of and love for the classic Aston styling language. If Aston had this and the Lagonda sedan available at retailers, their sales would double.
