SPIED + VIDEO: Porsche's All-New Four-Cylinder Boxster CAUGHT Testing Around Stuttgart
If you've been keeping track of the latest Porsche headlines, you probably have heard about the legendary German automaker working on four-cylinder powerplants. Now if you're like me and you despise four bangers, this probably sounds like awful news. There may be good news, though.

That's because from what we've heard it sounds like this four-cylinder motor is going to pack a punch. In addition, we're assuming it will also be lighter considering it can drop two cylinders.

As of now we've heard it and the sound is up in the air. In one video it sound good to my ears, and in another it was less-than-impressive. We're hoping that Porsche comes through with a sweet boxer four.

Special thanks to our friend, Toldi, we've got the latest spy video of the Boxster four-cylinder undergoing research and development in Stuttgart. And not only do we have one clip, he's been kind enough to pass along a second.

Check out both clips of the all-new four-cylinder Boxster, below!

Why Porsche isn't doing a new "914" below the Boxster is beyond me. A 4 cylinder, mid-engined Porsche "Sportster" priced--nicely equipped--for $35K is money waiting to be grabbed. Take the VW 2.0T, bolt it in midship, and give it some gotta have styling--not yet another 911 caricature--and that is the move. A 4 cyl Boxster will still cost as much as a Stingray anyway and only morons (those who worship at the temple of Porsche) will choose the Boxsterwheezer over the Vette.

Matt, once again trying to manufacture the fiction in your mind into fact. The current Corvette starts a $54K, the current Boxster @ $51.5K. How is the 4 cy Boxster going to cost more than a Corvette?

Repeat after me: "There is no such thing as a base price Porsche at a Porsche dealer."

Sure you can ORDER one and wait 6-8 months for delivery, but the dealer allotment is NEVER base. If a dealer has a base Porsche, the dealer has specially ordered it.

Clearly you've never seen how Porsche operates. They have an artificially base price and then there are option bundles that RAPIDLY inflate price. Click a few desirable packages and welcome to $80,825!

The 4 cylinder will easily hit $70K with a few desirable options.

Finding a base 4 cylinder Boxster will simply not happen and it will be a victim of bundling as well.

Finding a base Stingray is VERY easy and it will eat the Boxster/Cayman and spit it out.

Don't even ask what the real dealer invoice is on the $80K Boxster, you'd be livid, but because people buy Porsches loaded to the gills, my bank account is quite robust.

@Matt

Yeah, I think this is kind of silly. EVERY dealer I've ever been to selling luxury products options the cars up a bit for their inventory. Most consumers do not opt for strippers so it only makes sense.

Sure, Porsche's have high stickers but that's just because they have their options set up so EVERYTHING is a la carte unlike other models seen by other luxury automakers. It's only natural that the P cars will sticker much higher from base with so many a la carte options to be had.

Lay off the drugs Matt. You original post said nothing about options or buying from off the dealers lot. I don't believe you have every been in Porsche dealership given the level of you knowledge. Last year I bought a new Boxster S configured exactly they way I wanted waling out the door for $61.5K. And yes, the Corvette will eat the Boxster and just about any other car alive including your TVR and Mustang LS. So what really is the point you are truing to make? I have never bought car for horse power. I want the best handling, 3,000 pound or less, preferably mid-engine daily drive that I can afford, and that is what I have and what I have been driving for the last 35 years.

I am a part owner in a Porsche retailer and therefore I know what I am talking about.

And why should we believe you Matt? You have spewed so much bullshit on this site basically calling everyone in the industry either a moron or an idiot, and off course anyone else that disagreed with your beliefs is either a moron or an idiot. And if you are a part owner in a car company that you loth, which I doubt, then it is no wonder you have such a dower perspective on life.

How conceivable is that a person criticizes a brand that is represented by a company in which He is part owner?
