CAR WARS! Drag Race Edition: BMW i8 vs. Porsche 911 Carrera S

Although it seems silly to put a hybrid vehicle on the grid, you have to remember that BMW is marketing this as a sports car that happens to be efficient. So, what happens when you put it head-to-head with what can be considered one of the greatest sports cars of all time?

Let's find out.

Out of curiosity, I just have to ask: Does the end result even matter? Something tells me the folks buying the i8 want that zany styling, the efficiency and a statement piece. The 911 owner knows they're getting performance.

As much as I despise the Porsche Super Beetle, I'd take a 911 over the BMW Eclipse 24-7.

The i8 already looks like yesterday's news. Impressive performance considering its technology and engineering, but I'd take the Porsche.

It was an odd case study, as it were, a few years ago when it was the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept, and it's even more senseless now. BMW should have gone for more of an M1 Hommage take, and thrown a big engine into it. Than again, BMW is not known for MR cars; the M1 was more Lamborghini than anything.
