SPIED + VIDEO! BMW's Upcoming M2 SEEN and HEARD Lapping The Nürburgring — ANY Suggestions To Make It BETTER Than The 1M?
For me it's hard to think of a better BMW than the 1M. The car was brilliant, end-to-end. I will say that the all-new M3 and M4 with a standard transmission is a hair better; however, if you make the mistake of outfitting either with a dual-clutch box you're missing out in a big way.

When BMW decided to send us the M235i, I never thought a 1M follow up would happen. The more I thought, the more it didn't seem that there was enough room to have a proper M2 with the M235i and M4 leaving a relatively small price gap.

Turns out I was wrong.

We've been keeping an eye out as the car undergoes developmental testing and now we're seeing the latest M car hit the Nürburgring. Sporting a quad-tipped exhaust and bulging fenders front and rear, it's clear this isn't your standard BMW 2-Series. The six-cylinder drone doesn't hurt either, but to me it's lacking character. Hopefully the Bavarians tune up that exhaust a bit.

The videographer notes that the development car is sporting a tow hook. Typically you'll see cars testing with trailers attached for durability purposes.

In this video you see the 2016 BMW M2 during some tests on the Nurburgring. You can spot also a towbar if you look better, thats something news for a M-car?

The car have a 3.0 liter 6 cylinder inline engine what produce around the 400hp

I'd aim it straight at the Mustang GT and Nissan 370Z for price and performance. BMW is too "same sausage different sizes" and a naturally aspirated V8 M2 for $35K base would be formidable. The coupe should have been a fastback.

The RWD 1 Series was a TERRIBLE sales dud and the 2 Series will be too if it's just the "in between" model spanning the gap between the 3 Series and the coming 1 Series. That--unfortunately--appears to be BMW's plan.

Why would BMW aim the new 2 Series at the 370Z? The BMW 1/2 series has already outsold the 370Z in the US market.

MDarringer:
Try to do a bit of research before you start with verbal diarrhea.
1.4 million RWD 1-Series sold between 2007 & 2012 does not constitute a "TERRIBLE sales dud".
As for the 1Ms - they sold out quickly and now used ones command prices approaching original MSRP. The M235i already approaches the 1M in performance, so the M@ will be even better than the 1M.
BTW, Why would they stick a " a naturally aspirated V8" in the M@ when the M3 & M4s have a 425-hp twin-turbo inline six-cylinder.
