Acura To Distance Itself From Honda And Become More Independent
After high school in the 1970s, Mike Accavitti worked the first shift at Warren Truck Assembly, a Chrysler plant near Detroit.

When a production cutback suspended the second shift, the young card-carrying member of the United Auto Workers union knew someone with more seniority from that shift would bump him off his. And they did.

But taking advantage of a UAW educational program, the son of a dry cleaner started classes at Western Michigan University. He graduated as an industrial engineer. He later earned an MBA and law degree.

Good news! Maybe Acura is back in this game, hope so! Honda makes a fine product and I have hopes Acura can innovate and apply their talent better than in the past few years, especially with their sedans and fun to drive models.

Yeah right, they've been saying this sht for years. Acura will always be nothing more than fancier Accords, CRVs, Pilots and Civics.

Acura is working on a new NSX. And that car will not be some "fancier" Civic Coupe.

In fact, it will cost around 150k, and already some of famous celebrities put down their deposits to pre-order.

And yes, the car will look far better than that goofy looking chick car called Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, and also will perform far superior as well, just something you'd expect from a 150k Honda.

As an Acura loyalist, I'm not wholeheartedly bought into the declaration. It was in 2008 when Acura stated they were going to target Tier 1 status and what they produced to get there is certainly questionable. The RLX and ILX are two glaring examples.

So at this point time will tell. The MDX and RDX are two great examples of how they can compete effectively. The TLX, based on reviews and initial sales, shows alot of promise as well. But you can't build a car brand from 3 vehicles. Acura needs to do its damnedest to promote the RLX SH-AWD Sport Hybrid especially since it's already delayed 6 months. And the ILX needs a revamp ASAP.

And the picture of the previous front-engine NSX that was scrapped that's on this article, Acura should seriously consider making this a production coupe to compete with the Lexus RC/RC-F.

Is that you all you got? 1 car out of the lineup that will be 150k, that you can't afford? Great luxury brand. NOT. Acura is about as pathetic as your posts. Weak and feeble.

Benzes, I already responded to your comment on the bottom one there, and yet, here you are, leaving a new comment like you never talked to me before, in an arrogant way.

And I can't afford a 150k car. Hmm, just because you can't afford anything higher than a used C class, don't assume everyone is the same, child.

And the way you talk really shows how old you are.

— JDMUSMuscle You poor fool. I own several high-end German cars, none of them a C-Class. You're a typical Japanese car lover, can't afford one and yet you think everyone else is in he same boat. I'm under 40 so again, wrong.

— JDMUSMuscle - Acura ain't shite and you know it. Nothing but lame Hondas with better leather and less features than the Hondas they're based on. PATHETIC. Fool's luxury for people who don't know what a real luxury car is.

the NSX always had Honda written on it in other countries. In teh land of good old USA, where celebrity, name recognition and fake shit like that is the culture, they decided to call it Acura so they can sell the same shit for more, just like big American 3 did, and then Toyota came up with the same shit called Lexus. But now they want to separate themselves from who ummmm themselves?

You can run away from yourself for the others to see, but end of the day you will be stock with yourself again. Just like the big American 3, Toyota with Lexus and Nissan with Infinity. People know what's up these days, that's why German brands are more success than ever before. Some like imitation that saves them money and many want the real thing.

as far as NXS goes, if designed right it might be success, considering the fact how goofy looking the new Mercedes AMG GT is

I honestly can not disagree.

Well, hate to admit, but the Japanese and the Americans simply are not very good at building their brands.

GT-R is experiencing slow sales, all thanks to the price hike, which was around 70k and now it is all the way up to 110k. That price actually kind of does not make much of sense nowadays, considering the fact that Porsche's 911 Carrera already starts at around 100k with taxes included.

And not a single American luxury brand has a "coupe" (Except Caddy CTS), and not a single one of them has a "convertible" which is ridiculous to say the least.

And the very same thing goes to the Japanese. Lexus and Infiniti only have one coupe in their lineups, and only Infiniti has a convertible.

And this is why I keep saying, if you want to be seen as a god, then only the European luxury brands can satisfy his/her needs. Considering how many people drive around Ferrari, Porsche and Lambo in Monaco and London.

Acura has to FIRE the designer and stylists they are using. The Acura line is very tiresome and forgettable.
