Is There Such A Beast As An Affordable Porsche That Is Fun To Drive?

Is There Such A Beast As An Affordable Porsche That Is Fun To Drive?
Before I could answer that question, I had to consider two things: 1. What is affordable and 2. How does one quantify “fun”?

For the avid Porsche connoisseur, the immediate reaction would probably be, “sure, a pre-owned Porsche”.

For the sake of time though, let’s exclude all pre-owned Porsches from the equation and only consider new Porsche’s. There are some reading this that may consider the Porsche Boxter a fun to drive “car”, but is it really what comes to mind when thinking about the Porsche brand? Probably not. I’m sure it’s a fine automobile, but spine-tingling and hair-raising aren’t adjectives that I’ve ever heard to describe the Boxter driving experience.

Accurate article. The base price is for an unrealistically, plain, ill-equipped car. To make the car reasonably acceptable, the buyer put put down at least $10-$14K additional. You then then bumping up to $70K plus tax. And that is for the 'small' Porsche!

What you just said then makes the case for buying a Cayman GTS with the only options being "sports Suspension" and a manual transmission.I would order nothing else on the option list. Yes it will be 75 grand but it should have standard all the reasonable option one could need.

That's what I did last year. Ordered a new Boxster S with manual transmission, sport suspension, limited slip and sports seats - - - negotiated $61.5K. As a bonus, weighs in at just under 3,000 lbs with a full tank of gas.

I'd go with a 944 which is an especially fun to drive Porsche as is the 914-6. Find either in sound condition and you have a real treat.

I think Better Homes & Gardens could write a better "review" than that.

Porsche is not some cheap brand. This is the brand for the millionaires/billionaires.

You don't ask for some Walmart discount on Porsche and expect to get it cheap. That is not how you shop at the Porsche dealership, and no rich people there would want to see such a thing.
