Cadillac To Build Top End - High Tech - Flagship In Detroit
General Motors said today that it will build a new "top-end, high-technology" Cadillac at its Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant starting in the fourth quarter of next year.

GM declined to name the car, saying only that it would be slotted above the CTS midsize sedan and XTS large sedan. Sources have told Automotive News that GM plans to build a large, rear-wheel-drive sedan, codenamed LTS, at the plant starting in late 2015.

And Johan de Nysschen will take credit for a vehicle that was--in essence--completed prior to his arrival.

I am hoping that SOMEONE at Cadillac has the brains to return to names. Elmiraj is BEGGING to be used.

Completely agree Matt, and using names will set them apart from all the other Alpha-Numeric-Lemmings....

This heap doesn't have a snow balls chance in hell to beat the S-Class or the A8. A new Lexus LS is coming as is a new A8. This will be another oh so missed the mark car for Caddy.

Hmmm... no bias there dingus... Benzes1... a "heap" huh... you sound like a 5th grader... The new S Class is a tour de force car... but its ugly and uninspiring. Arguably better than the last 2 S Class cars. But the front end is ugly, and they're moving the CLA front to all their cars..."UGLY"... the styling is simply already old. They're Mercedes so they sell, they have a great reputation for engineering excellence and people want the star, its a symbol... this car will be gorgeous, I really cant say that about any Mercedes, BMW or Audi. Gorgeous... emotional.. not a single one!

Too bad I'm not a fifth grader and I know better. This pending cheapout mess from GM doens't have a prayer in this market and they'll likely overprice it too. Ugly and uninspiring is just your opinion, and if that is all you got the S-Class is a winner. Gorgeous don't mean squat at this level if the rest of the vehicle isn't right. GM can't build a better car than the S-Class or A8 or any of the German brands at this level. Their ignorant, slow, fat, lazy ways won't allow it.

The S-Class does not have the CLA "front" either so what does that have to do with the top at hand W124E320? NOTHING. If styling is all this car will have on the S-Class then good luck with that. LS460 buyers will tell you styling isn't everything.

Good luck, Cadillac. Right now, apart from the Corvette, Caddys are the only original designs and could still compete with the best if GM gets its act together, which is always open to doubt, of course. Why cannot America produce a decent original car with design flair these days? What happened to the drama? The Eldorados, the Toronados, the Rivieras, the wonderful old Pontiac widetracks, the big dynamic Buicks and Chevys?
GM is a marque killer, death to famous old makes. Let us pray sincerely that they do right by Cadillac and restore some glory to the faded crown of US carmakers. This one looks Ok for a start, until we see it uncovered. The 16 cylinder car would have been a hoot, a real Rolls basher, had they dared....
