VIDEO REVIEW: BMW 2 Series Active Tourer - Is It Really A Guzzied Up MINI Cooper S?
Everyone is curious how BMW’s first front-wheel drive car drives but a lot of them are forgetting that we already experienced them before. That’s because the UKL platform that the 2 Series Active Tourer is based on is also used to make the new MINI models. And we drove that.

We have to admit that we liked the way the new Cooper S handled but no matter how many parts the two share underneath the body, they cannot have the same handling characteristics. That’s because the 2 SAT is a lot taller and heavier than the MINI, not to mention longer.

I'm more impressed with the more practical reviews of cars by CarBuyer than the BMW itself. They don't go ga-ga over unusable horse power and 0.9g grip. They focus on the more practical daily features of a car. And on that note, I'm beating my drum, again, on my love for the practical true minivans that European and Japanese car mfrs are so good at :-) Sorry to take it off subject.

"Gussied" would imply it has been made to look better. The 2 series 'whatever' looks awful. The only people this car will appeal to will be in European and Asian markets....and maybe parts of Canada because they like stuffy crap like the Mercedes R class, B class and Mini's with British flags.

Cars like this are in a niche all their own. If you want an economy car, you go buy an economy car, not a BMW. It would be more interesting if it was more in line with the likes of the GLA or CLA...and yes, we can argue like sissies that the GLA and CLA 'suck' or 'look like sh*t.'

My friends, the 2 series active tourer is one of the ugliest piece of automotive sh*t ever bestowed on the public. The only thing preventing this vehicle form becoming a VW Phaeton or BMW 8 series is that it's pragmatic.
