Lotus Maybe Dropping Evora In United States Market
Remember how Lotus told amid its F1 team sale earlier this year that car operations are going nice and smooth, with huge demand worldwide? Well, the British company might've been bluffing if you take into consideration the automaker will cut a quarter of its workforce (325 employees) due to financial losses. Moreover, U.S. operations might take a hit as well.

According to an insider report published by C&D, it's possible for Lotus to drop the Evora in the United States after the 2014 model year inventory will be sold. But why so, you might ask. As it happens, the British sports carmaker convinced safety higher-ups and ultimately got a 12-month reprieve from the federal requirement to fit smart airbags to the Evora.

Wonderful car but built/scaled for Lilliputians and Munchkins.

I'm an old Lotus guy who has owned four of them but this car is just not competitive with the competition in that segment. Might have been a success if priced to compete with the 370Z instead of the Cayman. No way Lotus can match the build quality of the Porsche. It isn't good looking enough to bring the price. Add to that the Toyota engine and it just becomes wildly overpriced for the segment. The move upmarket has never produced the results Lotus was looking for. Time to re-think their whole business model.

My next door neighbor bought a silver evora the day before this news came out. I got to test drive it and I'm quite impressed with the ride and handling. The built quality is nothing to brag about. The door handle is a pointy piece of plastic that looks like it'll break off with usage. But this car is more fun to drive than a Gallardo and easily get about 400 miles per tank.

Lotus needs to build a real car and not some track queen thing that appeals to like 10 guys.

Literally Lotus needs a Miata.
