Affluent Dallas School District Bans "The Art of Racing in the Rain" From English Classes

Affluent Dallas School District Bans

Highland Park High School students were told to put down their books last week.

The Art of Racing in the Rain — the book they were reading in a 10th-grade English class — was suspended from the school district’s approved book list. The novel about a race car driver grieving the loss of his wife includes a sex scene that made some parents uncomfortable.

Yeah, it's important to make sure our children don't know anything about sex. That way, they won't be interesting in doing it.

(BTW, that's dripping with sarcasm, for those who can't tell)

They are teaching our kids a distorted view of sex beginning in kindergarten and this is off limits for 10th graders?

The one thing that anything thinking person knows is that banned books are the most worth reading. Expect these kids to now read that sex scene over and over and talk about it for weeks. Nothing like banning something to draw more attention to it. The good news is that now the kids will talk about this secretly, rather than openly, so parents will have absolutely no chance to instill in them ideas about safe-sex, etc. Good job parents...you're just like ostriches with your heads in the sand.
