Cadillac Moved To NYC Because Nysschen Didn't Want To Live In Detroit?

General Motors has insisted that moving Cadillac's headquarters from Detroit to New York is a strategic move, but a Michigan economic development official said Thursday it is driven by Cadillac top executive's desire to live in the Big Apple.

Michigan Economic Development Corp. car czar Nigel Francis said he's "99% sure" Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president, just didn't want to move to Detroit.

"One of his conditions might have been I want to work from where I live," said Francis.

It's not the first time de Nysschen has moved a brand away from its corporate parent — and not the first time he's moved a company away from Detroit.

Sounds like Dynysschen is a bit of a Diva. First, he leaves Infiniti because he claims he didn't want to be stationed in China and now he poo-poos Detroit and they may have moved Cadillac HQ to NY. Big baby.

The guy is a cancer and needs to be removed ASAP. I actually like Cadillac and want them to do well, and this guy just pisses me off more every day.

What has Johan de Nutsack ever done that was so amazing? Literally NOTHING. Assuming Cadillac needed to leave Detroit--a false assumption--setting up headquarters in Silicon Valley would have sent the message that Cadillac is looking forward to being on the leading edge of technology. Nysschen is simply an old fartbag that wants to be near all the fabulous Broadway musicals.

Not surprised, not surprised at all. The U.S. has SO many trash cities that used to be good or great and then went bankrupt or became ghettos and Detroit is one of the worst places to be in the entire "world".

The United States is practically on the same level as other South American countries (Meaning it is as good as a third world country), but all thanks to New York City and Apple (The company), the United States is "somehow" maintaining its prestigious status.

But really, without those two, the U.S. is just a laughingstock compared to the wealthy European nations with super mighty brands that are heavily well associated with their cultures and identity.

I have to agree with you. Obama promised change and that's all we have left.

Cadillac needs to understand luxury buyers. There are far more millionaires and billionaires in NYC than in Detroit. And yes, there are more millionaire and billionaires in NYC than Silicon Valley, too. Silicon Valley makes a lot news about tech startups, but for every Apple, Google, or Twitter, there are 10,000 "good ideas" that crash and burn (people don't get rich by crashing and burning startups).

NYC not only has money, it is a hub for culture from around the world; Americans, Europeans, Asians all love to live or visit NYC...so it's a good place to get ideas about selling expensive things to a lot of different cultures.

Last but not least, remember that engineering and production are staying in Detroit. They're just moving leadership / marketing / pr / sales / administrative to NYC.
