The new model, rumoured to be called i9, would use the same carbonfibre tub ?as the i8 but would get more aggressive styling, a larger engine and a more powerful electric motor.

The engine is understood to be the new modular 3.0-litre six-cylinder unit that is in development and set to appear first in the upcoming 7-series replacement.

I just wish it looked more beautiful, rather than looking like a prop for a sci-fi movie.

My hopes for the i9:
1) keep the weight similar to the i8
2) keep the i8's AWD layout
3) couple the I6 from the M2 with the i3's electric motor for 530-550hp
4) put a normal width set of sport tires on the car instead of the low rolling resistance bicycle tires.

Do those four things, and BMW will have a 911 Turbo S fighting beast of a car.

My hopes for the i9:
TASTEFUL styling. "Green" cars should not need to be garish.

Where would a BMW I6 fit in this chassis? I ask this considering that the i8 currently uses a transverse i3.

Yeah...why do these cars have to be so ugly? They're impressive technically, but where are the innovative but understated BMW styling hallmarks? I really really want to like the iCars, but they're just so ugly.
