PARIS MOTOR SHOW: A Honda Civic That's BETTER To Drive Than The Iconic NSX? That's What They're Telling Us About THIS...
The Acura NSX is one of those cars from the 1990s and early 2000s that resonates with just about everyone. You don't have to be a car geek to see that vehicle and be drawn to it.

According to Honda though, it sounds like you won't have to even give it much thought after you drive the all-new Civic Type R. The major Japanese automaker is saying that this Type R will eclipse all previous Type R models, including the NSX. Bold statement, no doubt.

Although the company is remaining mum on the power output, they have said it will produce over 275 horsepower and rev to the 7,000 mark via  2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged motor. Oh, and it will feature a proper six-speed manual. No flappy paddles here!

Aside from that, the other big news is what's being called Steer Axis. Essentially it will be some sort of witchcraft that's meant to eliminate torque steer, as seen in other high-performance, front-wheel drive vehicles.

No word if it will make it stateside.

Amazing vehicle. So much better than Porsche 911, 918 Spyder, Aventador and LaFerrari.

No, my friend. This is the kind of car that you bring out to Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini party.

Once the discussion about the NSX excludes the import tuner boys with their hands in their pants, everyone else knows that the NSX simply was NOT as good as the hype. Yes, it's reasonably competent, but it was always easy to beat for speed and handling. Thus, a Civic that can outdo an NSX from 20 years ago is hardly surprising.

I liked his political comment.
I disagree with Matt on the NSX though. I had the chance to drive a bunch of high end cars at the Portland international raceway road course and compared with everything else I drove, nothing handled with the wonderful precision of the NSX. Not the Porsches, the Corvettes the Vipers or anything else in the price range of the NSX. Were there faster cars in a straight line? Sure.
I don't care how fast the new Civic is, there is no way a FWD car can be a satisfying to drive as the NSX was in it's day.
