Toyota To Recall 690,000 Tacomas For Rusted Out Suspensions

"The involved vehicles' rear suspension system contains leaf springs that are constructed of either three or four leaves. There is a possibility that a leaf could fracture due to stress and corrosion," Toyota said in a statement on Monday.

Whenever I drive by the Toyota dealer, I can hear the trucks rusting.

My '99 Taco was a rather unsafe vehicle. There were spacers missing from the spring leafs and the whole rear axle was offset from the factory. It took many trips to various Coyota service centers to get them to acknowledge and fix the problems. I got rid of the Taco before rust became an issue.
