Audi Approves 800HP R18 Hypercar For Production?
REPORTS have surfaced online alleging that German carmaker Audi has approved plans of producing a road-going hypercar derived from its race-winning LMP1 racer. Sources further indicate that the model would be christened as the ‘R10’, with its build underpinning a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis design. Reports also suggest that the R10 would measure slightly larger than the brand’s flagship R8 sports car, but will adopt a design inspired from its Le Mans-winning LMP1 racers.

Originally envisioned to adopt a hybrid diesel-electric powertrain similar to the R18 e-tron quattro LMP1 race car (pictured), rumours indicate that this plan has been scrapped. Instead, the R10 would reportedly feature a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V10 petrol mill that outputs more than 800hp
