Piloted Driving Concept successfully lapped An Audi RS7 performance car reached 140 miles per hour on a racetrack Sunday -- with no one behind the wheel.

The RS7 Piloted Driving Concept successfully lapped the Hockenheimring racetrack in Germany at high speeds using only computers and sensors to guide it, Audi said.

I really think that the concept of automated cars is really cool, but getting them to handle unobstructed track is the easy part. Same on public roads.

The trick to getting wider adoption will be "how does it deal with unknown situations", until it can react faster than a human and in someone sane manners, that'll be the problem. Also, how will we handle liability, and how will the AI handle "I'm going to hit something, do I hit the kid, or the elder"

Looked so precise that it was a really boring looking lap, no unnecessary steering wheel movements.
