VIDEO SHOOTOUT: 2015 Camaro SS VS 2015 Mustang GT - Which Is the Better Ponycar?
Since Motor Trend has a web show called Head 2 Head, the minute the new Mustang debuted, the countdown was on before the show put one up against a Camaro. Not that this is a bad thing, of course. Far from it. The rivalry is one of the longest and bitterest in automotive history, and we would frankly be disappointed if it were any other way. It is also an incredibly close rivalry, in terms of virtually every quantifiable criterion, just like a good rivalry should be.

I think the question will come up regarding the new Mustang. Is it a better car the 2014 Mustang or is it a better Mustang. I'll touch on the positives first.
Decent styling
Good green house
Higher quality interior
More refinement
Much better ride over bumps
No loss in straight line performance
Better handling than the 2014 GT

Negatives

Front end not as aggressive as the 2014
Engine and exhaust inside too quiet
Should be 400 LBS lighter than it is
Handling while good is not up to Camaro with ILE package

Perhaps you should look at this GT as a good starting point for further development. When this generation Camaro came out it had very sloppy handling without the ILE package.

As it stands it appears the Ecoboost Mustang has the best handling at the moment.

One other miscalculation by Ford. Chevy's new 2016 Camaro is on the lighter platform shared with the Cadillac ATS. If that car comes in
at 3,500 or 3,600 LBS with their 6.2 V8 the Mustang is clearly at a disadvantage. So Ford is going to have to figure out a way to get some
weight out of the Mustang. Perhaps if Ford can recoup some of it's investment new Aluminum F150 it can start putting some lighter panels on to the Mustang. Also although it has a wider rear track than the Camaro Ford has to do a better job of taming the rear end of the new Stang. That seems to be it Achilles heal.As I said a good starting point but further development and some production running changes with a mid cycle refresh would not go amiss.

Mustang GT. I love the Camaro Z28, but if we are talking about SS vs GT, then Mustang GT, without a doubt.
