MINI Sets FWD Track Record At Nurburgring - Ties Zonda, R8 V10, SLS AMG @ 7:44
The story that a new FWD record has been set at the Nurburgring is a pretty big deal, but that’s not even the most remarkable part of the story. The really mind blowing thing is that a Mini Cooper Works tied with a Pagani Zonda S, an Audi R8 V10 and an SLS AMG for a time of 7:44. It also beat the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R, the fastest production FWD around the track, by ten seconds. The tuned car produces 286 horsepower.

If it is true, I betchya it was on R-Comps.Put R-Comps on any of the other cars and the mini would look slowwwwww.

It's highly modified, so, while it's cool it's a car that is not even close to stock.

read this too somewhere else, I just wish it was a JCW (factory car)... MINI clearly isn't interested in investing the dollars needed to tune and offer a factory car that would do this yet... Perhaps the next JCW Hardtop will have the guts to compete with the Renault and the rest of the FWD factory tuned hot hatches

Given that Mini has been a torque steer nightmare, this is real progress.

I know it has been modified, but the way the door was peeling away from the A-pillar at speed is a little scary.
